Taskforce To Prosecute TM Hotel Warri For Violating Environmental Standards

Delta State Government has restated that it will continue to pursue zero tolerance for waste and dirt as it is set to prosecute TM Hotel in Effurun for violating environmental standards.

Working through the State Environment Taskforce headed by Honorable Sylvester Oromoni, the Government frowned on the defiance of the hotel to clear its premises of refuse and weed which poses a threat to occupants and visitors of the hotel.

Co-ordinator of the State Taskforce on Environment for Delta Central and South, Comrade Kingsley Iweka expressed displeasure that the hotel has failed to abate the nuisance identified by the Taskforce.

His words, ' we served them an abatement notice to clean up their premises which is overgrown by weed but at the expiration of the seven days notice they have refused to work on the premises, this is unacceptable to government,'' he said.

He asked residents of the area to help improve their environment by regularly cleaning up their premises.

According to him, "the issue of abatement notice is to ensure that people complied with laid down environmental laws and we will not relent in doing our job because we need a remarkable improvement of our environment," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the State Taskforce on Environment Honorable Sylvester Oromoni has restated the vision of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to build a cleaner and healthier Delta State.

He asked for cooperation of all to key into the vision as it will be in the interest of all Deltans, he stated.
