Deltans Expresses Disappointment Over Distribution Pattern Of COVID-19 Palliatives, As Mulade Urges Gov. Okowa To Direct DESOPADEC To Wake Up

Deltans Expresses Disappointment Over Distribution Pattern Of COVID-19 Palliatives, As  Mulade Urges Gov. Okowa To Direct DESOPADEC To Wake Up

Francis Tayor

Warri_____ A Delta State born renowned human rights and environment activist, Comrade Mulade Sheriff has drawn the attention of the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to the unpleasant pattern of distributing the food stuff palliatives to cushion the economic effects of the 28 days lockdown order by the State Government on the less privileged.

Speaking at the weekend at his country home in Benikrukru Community of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West LGA of Delta State, Chief Mulade who is also the National Coordinator of Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, commended the Delta State Government for distributing food stuffs to the 25 LGAs from the State’s Food Bank during the lockdown period. He however expressed disappointment over the quantity of food stuffs and other items that were distributed.

He drew the attention of the State Governor to the selective pattern adopted in the distribution of the food items in favour of members of a particular political party, describing it as unacceptable. He said all Deltans should benefit from the State Government irrespective of political affiliations as hunger knows no political boundaries.

On the one million (Ankara) nose masks to be produced by the Delta State Government for distribution to Deltans, the human rights activist advised that the effort should be devoid of political bias for the sake of integrity on the part of Government. He noted that every Deltan has the right to be protected from COVID-19, adding that one million (Ankara) nose masks would be grossly inadequate for the over 4 million people living in Delta State who deserve to be protected from the killer virus.

While commending the Managing Director of DESOPADEC, Chief Bashorun Askia Ogie,
and the Executive Director, Planning Research and Statistics, DESOPADEC, Comrade Shedrack Agediga, for distributing palliatives through their personal Foundations to their immediate communities and constituencies towards cushioning the hunger effect of the lockdown period, Chief Mulade expressed disappointment over DESOPADEC's failure to reach out to their host communities at this time of need. He said this is the best time for people in the State to benefit from Government's interventionist Agencies, Commissions and Boards but expressed shock that DESOPADEC did not share a grain of rice to residents of its mandate areas including riverine/coastal communities, saying that it did not speak well of the Commission.

He therefore called on the Board of DESOPADEC to do the needful by providing food stuffs and other necessary items for people in its mandate areas, instead of hiding under the umbrella of personal donations by individual Foundations to present DESOPADEC's Weekly Report on AIT, describing such acts as deceptive, fraudulent and criminal, and urged the Governor to call the Commission to order.

Chief Mulade alleged that some political appointees use the State funds for jamborees and personal promotion, instead of using same to buy and distribute food stuffs to the poor and vulnerable in the various communities. He then charged the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and other political office holders in the State to be committed to the welfare of all Deltans, irrespective of political affiliations. He advised against playing politics with the coronavirus and using the situation to drain the State economy.

COVID-19 Pandemic: Apostle Suleiman Goes Gaga, Begs Nigerian Govt To Allow Pastors Test Their Healing Power At COVID-19 Isolation Centers

COVID-19 Pandemic: Apostle Suleiman Goes Gaga, Begs Nigerian Govt To Allow Pastors Test Their Healing Power At COVID-19 Isolation Centers

Francis Tayor

Abuja______ Nigerian televangelist and the senior pastor and general overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, Apostle Johnson Suleman has appealed to the Nigerian government to allow pastors to visit isolation centres to pray/heal COVID-19 patients.

Suleman, during a recent sermon, reacted to comments from several Nigerians that pastors have refused to go and ‘heal’ COVID-19 patients. He pointed out that pastors needed the permission/approval of the Government before they can visit any isolation centre. In his words;

_“There is a virus in town and people say, where is the church? where are the Christians?..and I have said this clearly, If the government will permit us to go to isolation centres to go and pray for Coronavirus patients, please permit us, allow us to go there._

_“That is why there are men of God. If you are really anointed to pray for the sick, this is the time. This is the time because what is holding the world is sickness. So, we are begging the government, we are begging them, Permit us!”_

_“That is the only wat we can reduce this nonsense. because it will increase every day, there are people with the gift of healing. God has gifted them to pray for the sick, it’s not fake, It’s not a gimic, It’s not arranged, it’s there in them,”_ he said.

He also added that he is not claiming that pastors can heal all the Coronavirus patients in Nigeria.

_“We are not telling you we can heal everybody but by the time we are through with prayer, you will see a significant difference. If they are 20 at least 18 will be cleared,”_ he said.

COVID-19 PALLIATIVES: OKOWA HAS FAILED DELTANS, SAYS IJAW PEOPLES DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE

Press  Statement
23rd April, 2020

COVID-19 PALLIATIVES: OKOWA HAS FAILED DELTANS, SAYS IJAW PEOPLES DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE

It is sad that Delta State Government is showing ingratitude to deltans despite the pains and hunger in the state,  a situation where people don't go to work and do business for a whole month, and you are coming to share few cups of rice ,beans and garri to few Deltans.

It may interest your His Excellency Senator Ifeanyi Okowa to know that less than 10percent of Delta State population got a cup of rice, beans or garri from the state government creek gift, called pallatives.

We want to state that deltans deserve a befitting treatment from Delta State government. A situation where deltans are treated as beggars and destitutes, it is unacceptable. It is only irresponsible government that would treat her people ,the way deltans have been treated in the face of this difficulty of covid-19 lockdown. This is a sign of ingratitude to deltans and a slap on the faces of deltans. This evidence that there is no government in Delta State.

It is disappointing that in the face of grievous lamentations of hunger and hardship, Delta State government shared cups of rice, beans and garri to few Deltans. This is a sign that Delta  State government does not have the people at heart. It is shameful and disheartened. We are not convinced that the few foods shared were to cushion the pains of covid-19 lockdown as it was meant to insult Deltans.

We want to believe that the few foods shared were from donors, and it was expected that the state government would argument to ensure that every deltan is given a share or a sense of belonging.
His Excellency senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State should know that Deltans laboured hard to create comfort for him, "deltans pay your bills, and ensure you live in free house, eat free food and drive free cars and get other free enssentials and necessities. Deltans deserved better treatments.
We can borrow to build Government official houses. We borrow to pay Politicians salary but we can't borrow to maintain the welfare of the citizens or electorate in this auspicious times. It is really sad.

We want to state unequivocally that deltans are disappointed over what was shared as palliatives by Delta State government. It is worrisome that Delta State government only shared foods from donors and bluntly refused to make committements to alleviate the suffering of deltans.

The shabby distribution was for the fact that there was no proper data capturing. It is appalling that a whole state government shameless distributed between a cup and four to few deltans to cushion the effects of covid-19 lockdown for a whole month. Truely, we don't need your cup of rice and beans to survive as it cannot sustain us as Deltans.

A ward was given 40 bags of rice and 20 bags of beans, and a ward has several voting units. Some political wards have 12 units, others have between 15, 17, 18, 20, 25 etc.  Some units are between three hundred, five hundred, six hundred,  eight hundred or one thousand voters.

For example,  a ward that has 20 voting units, with average of five hundred persons per unit, will sum up to Ten thousand, (10,000) voters. This should have been the arithmetic analysis that may have helped the government for equitable distribution of food items in the state.

You may agree with us that sharing 40 bags of rice and 20 bags of beans in a ward of 10,000 registered voters is a great disservice. A bag of rice contains 12 baskets. A bag of beans contains 24baskets. If we multiple 40 bags of rice by 12, we will have four hundred and eighty baskets (480). It means at the estimate of one basket to an individual, 480 persons will benefit from the 40 bags of rice. If 20 bags of beans multiple by 24, we will have the same four hundred and eighty baskets (480), which means at the estimate of one basket to an individual, 480 persons will benefit from the 20 bags of beans. And in total, it is assumed that 960 persons will benefit from the 40 bags of rice and 20 bags of beans with the estimate of a basket to per person in the midst of 10,000 legible voters in a ward. In this case it was split to cups, making the process or exercise meaningless.

This shows that every ward less than 10pecent of the population benefited the few cups of rice, beans or garri. Going by the above analysis, one will vividly say that less than 10% percent of Delta State population benefited the beggars gift of a cup of rice or beans from Delta State government.

The sad part of it is that a basket to a person cannot sustain an individual for a month, now it is split to a cup, how does a cup of rice become meaningful in a family life. Can Okowa or his Political Appointees fee their family with a  basket or a cup of rice or beans? And you give out few cups of beans or rice and you called it a palliative. It too sad.

It is dishearten that someone was given a cup of rice and we called it a palliative. How would a responsible government share a cup of rice for an individual to survive in a month longed lockdown. We are pained.
We are equally disgusted over the accolades following the sharing of a cup of rice and beans by Delta State government. It is a fact that politicians and community leaders celebrating this nonsense are suffering from the poverty of the mind and mental defunction.

It is worrisome as no responsible government would disregard data analysis as such forms a better platform for even distribution of benefits to deltans.

We want to call on the governor of Delta state ,his Excellency senator Ifeanyi Okowa to treat Deltans as humans and with heart of gratitude based on the support given to him during his governorship elections in the state in a view of providing pallatives that will affect lives positively in the state.

Signed
Comrade Emma Keneware
Acting Secretary.
Ijaw People's Development Initiative, IPDI.

Lockdown: Ex_Niger Delta Agitators Demands Palliatives From President Buhari, Says Further Lockdown Will Cause Problem ln The Country

Lockdown: Ex_Niger Delta Agitators Demands Palliatives From President Buhari, Says Further Lockdown Will Cause Problem ln The Country

Francis Tayor

Yenagoa_____ As the COVID-19 nationwide lockdown enters fourth week, ex-Niger Delta agitators has demanded relief materials from President Buhari led federal government of Nigeria, saying they are equally entitled to such benefits as some part of the country is enjoying it.

The ex-militants said they can no longer cope with the sixty five thousand naira monthly stipend given to them by federal government, especially during this COVID-19 lockdown, stressing that federal government should do the needful by transferring palliative cash through their BVN account numbers.

Speaking to newsmen on behalf of the ex-agitators in yenagoa yesterday 23rd April, 2020 after emergency meeting, one Commander Biggy Ebi Pinapinawei noted that if the federal government can give relief materials as well as transfer palliative cash to some persons in the Northern part of Nigeria, he should equally pay the Southerners, especially the ex-agitators.

Commender Biggy said the whole nation is facing a difficult situation and he wonder why President Buhari will order payment of some selected Nigerians and leave the others to die in hunger.

" We cannot continue with this partiality and ethnicity menace in our nation. Let the palliative cash transfer go round to every Nigerians if not, there will be a very big problem soon in the country.

President Buhari should know that the 65k they are paying ex-agitators is just a penny. We are using it to cater for our various families. The payment is what we use to assist the needy in the society but it has been difficult due to the present situation in the country."

" We hereby called on President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency give us relief materials as well as transfer palliative cash through our account details already with the federal government. And if the lockdown will continue without such palliative measures put in place, there is going to be a huge problem in the nation, the statement adds."

*See How A Desperate Pastor's Wife, Dr. Rachael Ogar Conspires With Fake Journalist, Nigerian Police To Humiliate Her Husband At Abraka*

See How A Desperate Pastor's Wife, Dr. Rachael Ogar Conspires With Fake Journalist, Nigerian Police To Humiliate Her Husband At Abraka

Francis Tayor

Abraka_____ A clergyman, Apostle Daniel Okache Ogar of the Apostolic Power Ministry, Abraka, Delta State was arrested by the Police on the 16th of April, 2020, over an allegation by his wife, Dr. Rachael Ogar, that he was a ritualist. Apostle Ogar hails from Cross River State, while his wife Rachael, a lecturer at the Delta State University, Abraka, is a native of Orogun in Delta State.

According to the Pastor, on the 11th of April 2020, he had an argument with his wife on how to run and move the family forward. He said he thought the issue was resolved but his wife's actions later showed that she was still nursing grudges as she insisted on visiting her family to spend time with them, though she was coming and going whenever she desired because she had full access to the house. The Pastor said he was therefore in the Church most times praying for people and the country.

On the 15th day of April, 2020, he said his wife left the house for an undisclosed destination and was not seen or heard from despite attempts and efforts by him to reach her. On the next day, 16th of April, 2020, he said he drove out to buy fuel and other essentials for the house, and on his way back, he was blocked by a Sienna bus, and some men whom he later discovered were Policemen, dragged him out of his car and rough handled him alleging that his wife wrote a petition against him, saying they must search his house.

Considering the fact that he had nothing to hide, he said he quickly agreed but when he asked for their identity and insisted on seeing the warrant that authorized them to search his house, they gave him hot slaps on his face and handcuffed him. The embattled Pastor said the Policemen pushed him into their Sienna bus and drove him to his house, guided by his wife who took them straight to where their wardrobe in the room was, and surprisingly, instead of their usual clothes in the wardrobe, she pointed at some strange objects tied with a red cloth, telling the Police that he was a ritualist.

He said despite his denial, they forced him to stand in front of the wardrobe, with the policemen slapping him several times, asking him to accept ownership of the fetish objects found in the wardrobe, while a young man suspected to be a journalist was asked  to do a video recording of what he described as a drama, after which they took him to Asaba in the Sienna bus.

He said on getting to the Force Headquarters at Asaba, he discovered that his wife had written so many accusations against him, alleging that he buried some objects in his Church. He said on Friday 17th April, 2020, the Policemen took him to his Church at Abraka town to continue their investigations, and expressed shock that his wife took the Policemen straight to a spot in the Church premises, saying *"this is the place where my husband buried the animal."*

The question is, how did the Pastor's wife know the exact spot where her husband allegedly buried the said animal? How come the wife was just seeing the strange objects (for the first time) in the wardrobe that she and her husband had jointly used for over two years of their being legally married?

Apostle Ogar attributed his ordeal to the endless matrimonial issues with his wife since their legal marriage in 2018. He said his wife has many plots of land in Abraka unknown to him, and that she refused to support him in running the home financially and was always threatening to humiliate him. He alleged that she paid an official of a GSM operator in Lagos to monitor his calls and text messages, threatening several times to bring him and his Ministry down, frustrate and chase him out of Delta State but that he did not take her threats seriously until now.

He said on the 19th of April 2020, he saw a video of his arrest on Instagram posted by a blogger named Clement Akpobome Agudu, popularly known as IG Isokoboy12, narrating the incident with words capable of tarnishing his image and reputation, when investigations were yet to be concluded. He said the blogger promised to pay N5,000.00 to anyone that would comment on and repost the video.

He disclosed that the said video, which tactfully excluded his wife, was recorded by those who plotted his arrest, and that all other persons present at the scene of his arrest, were dispossessed of their phones, thereby denying him of the opportunity of having a video of what actually happened.

Apostle Ogar has therefore appealed to everyone to remain calm and wait for the outcome of Police investigations. He believed that those behind the ignoble plot would be brought to book and assured all of God’s intervention in the matter.

COVID-19: A Global Human Rights Activist, Amb. Mulade Calls On President Buhari To Extends Palliatives, Cash Transfer To Niger Delta Riverine Communities

..... Says FG Should Also Embarked On Nationwide Door to door Covid-19 Test

Francis Tayor

Warri_____ The National Coordinator and CEO of a renowned non governmental organisation NGO, Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, Comrade Mulade Sheriff has appealed to Nigerians to support the steps taken by Federal and State Governments towards containing the spread of coronavirus in Nigeria.

Chief Sheriff Mulade who is the Ibe-Sorimowei of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom in Delta State made the appeal in Warri, while addressing newsmen on the extra two weeks lockdown by President Muhammadu Buhari, describing the decision as a welcomed development since it is in the interest and safety of all Nigerians.

The CEPEJ Chief Executive said the additional two weeks would help the Government, NCDC and health workers to manage the spread of COVID-19, and commended President Muhammadu Buhari for taking the bold step to save lives irrespective of political considerations.

Speaking on the rise in confirmed cases to 627 as reported by NCDC, Chief Mulade appealed to the Federal and State Governments to consider the riverine communities of the Niger Delta Region particularly the densely populated communities in the creeks, whom he said are neglected in the whole process, by providing isolation centers, test kits and medicine, as well as train more health workers.

He urged the authorities at all levels to provide the means of livelihood for the Niger Delta people, whom he said are the more poorest and most vulnerable Nigerians that need more palliatives, including the Federal Government's social investment programme.

Chief Mulade also charged the Federal Government to use the additional two weeks lockdown to conduct a nationwide door-to-door covid-19 test on every Nigerian to ascertain the actual number of COVID-19 cases in the country so as to commence treatment immediately. He said if the Federal Government and the Ministry of Health could execute a nationwide door-to-door vaccination for children to prevent them from polio and other diseases, a door-to-door covid-19 test for all Nigerians should not be a problem.

He strongly appealed to the Federal Government, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, amongst others, to give equal treatment to all Nigerians in terms of distribution of palliatives, cash provisions, test kits, medicine, and face masks to save lives, as we are all collectively involved in the global efforts at curbing the deadly disease.

COVID-19: Gbaramatu Born Human Rights Activist, Amb. Mulade Appeals To Gov. Okowa To Review Lockdown Extension Order

COVID-19: Gbaramatu Born Human Rights Activist, Amb. Mulade Appeals To Gov. Okowa To Review Lockdown Extension Order

........Says Deltans Are  Dying Of Hunger And Not COVID-19

Francis Tayor

Warri_____ A Delta State born human rights activist, Comrade Mulade Sheriff has appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State to revisit the lockdown conditions for the sake of Deltans in the fight against the deadly global pandemic, COVID-19.

Comrade Mulade, the National Coordinator of the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, (CEPEJ), who made the appeal at Benikrukru Town, Gbaramatu Kingdom, in Warri South West LGA of the State, expressed worry over the level of hunger being experienced by citizens in the State.

He therefore, appealed to the Governor to personally take a tour across Delta Communities to feel the plight of the people and relax the time for some commercial activities within five and six hours daily in the state to enable people earn a living to avoid crime in the State.

In his words; "It has become imperative to appeal to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the Delta State Government officials implementing the lockdown to kindly reconsider the very tight restrictions because of the untold hardship being   experienced by the poor and vulnerable Deltans, especially riverine residents in the coastal communities of the State, who are deprived from accessing essential living amenities except they travel to nearby cities of Warri, Sapele and Bomadi".

While speaking further on the pains of the poor and vulnerable Deltans who   according to him are going through unbelievable hardship as a result of the lockdown, he said that; "Our dear Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa should leave his comfort zone at the Government house and move closer to the people because there is no other better critical time than now for the Governor to show empathy and sympathy to Deltans who voted for him massively in the 2015 and 2019 General elections".

The Activist in his statement said; "I want to strongly commend our Governor, 0Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for taking a bold step towards the lockdown of the State in line with the Federal Government’s position to ensure that the state governments manage the deadly pandemic. But I want to urge the Governor to revisit the lockdown condition for the sake of Deltans who are suffering from untold hardship.”

Comrade Mulade also said that; "As our Governor and other political office holders are making adequate provisions for their close family members and political aides in this very trying period of our nation’s history, the government in other to avoid cases of untold hardships and other eventualities, should  in magnanimity make adequate plans to supply electricity, food, water, sanitizers and other essential items to the poor and vulnerable in the State".

IPDI CONDEMNS KILLING OF DANZU MICHAEL IN BENET BY NIGERIAN MILITARY, WANTS THE PERPETRATORS BROUGHT TO JUSTICE

Press Release
8th April, 2020

IPDI CONDEMNS KILLING OF DANZU MICHAEL IN BENET BY NIGERIAN MILITARY, WANTS THE PERPETRATORS BROUGHT TO JUSTICE

It is sad that the Military whose primary duty is to protect lives and properties is now resorted to taken innocent lives indescriminately with slightes or without provocation. This clearly shows that Nigerian military has been infiltrated by the deadly Boko Haram sect that is bent to eliminate every southerner and Christians in the country.

We got a distress call from family members of the deceased and were briefed on the Military killing of DANZU  MICHAEL, an Ijaw youth in Benet area in Delta State on the 8th April, 2020. The said youth specialized on fishing and fetching of firewood. In the morning of April 8, 2020 the deceased was coming from fishing expedition when he was accosted and shot dead.

The Military were patrolling the area in that morning and took him for oil bunker and shot him immediately without any provocation or confrontation. We are dismay on what Nigerian soldiers are turning to.

Assuming but not conceding, if the late DANZU Michael was a Bunker ,does that form a ground to exterminate him. These Military barbaric Killings continues because our leaders failed to speak out and condemn it.

We are not at war with Nigerian government to have been killed in daily basis. It is sad that Nigerian military does not has value for lives and decided to kill wilfully at every point in time.

The military brutality displayed in South South if it was exercised in Sambisa forest, by now the issue of Boko Haram would have been a thing of the past.

Nigerian military is unprofessional and good at attacking soft targets. The Nigerian Military is now known for being indisciplined. No respect for human right. It is better to live with animals in the forest to have lived with Nigerian military.

It is our candid call that the CO of 3battallion, WARRI, Delta State and the chief of army staff should swing into action and investigate the circumstances surrounding the unlawful and barbaric Killing of Mr. DANZU Michael in 3days, in a view of bringing to book the killer Military officers to avoid legal action.

Signed

Amb. Mulade Charges Federal Govt To Embark On Citizens Door-To-Door Nation wide Virus Test, Drums Up Support For The Fight Against COVID-19

Amb. Mulade Charges Federal Govt To Embark On Citizens Door-To-Door Nation wide Virus Test, Drums Up Support For The Fight Against COVID-19

Francis Tayor

Warri______ A traditional Chief in Delta State, Comrade (Chief) Mulade Sheriff, the Ibe-Soremowei of ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, has called on Nigerians to obey the sit-at-home order of the Federal and State Governments aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria.

Chief Mulade, who is the National Coordinator of a renowned peace, human rights and sustainable environment advocating NGO, the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, made the call at a press briefing cum food distribution exercise on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, in Warri, Delta State.

It is worthy of note that the Center embarked on the distribution of food stuffs, hand sanitizers and buckets amongst others, to compliment Government's efforts at all levels.

Worried over the rise in COVID-19 cases to 254 in the country as reported by NCDC on Wednesday, Chief Mulade said the only way to combat the spread was to adhere strictly to the proactive measures of the Federal Government, the National Assembly and the State Govts by sitting at home during the lockdown and by obeying the rules and guidelines of the Health Ministries and the NCDC.

While commending President Buhari and his team for their roles so far, the NGO Coordinator said since COVID-19 has no cure for now, the only sure way to contain the spread of the virus was the lockdown directive by the President and the State Governors. Chief Mulade, an Ambassador of Peace, advised Nigerians to obey all the directives and meticulously follow the instructions of various health agencies for a win-win situation.

Comparing the statistics of COVID-19 cases of other countries with that of Nigeria, the CEPEJ boss commended the Federal Government and the NCDC for their efforts at flattening the spread curve of the deadly virus in Nigeria, and commended all Nigerians for complying with the Government lockdown order, despite the usual communal life among them.

He enjoined Nigerians to appreciate the Federal Government for the distribution of test kits, drugs, food, amongst others to hospitals and isolation centres across the Federation. He urged Nigerians to maintain personal and environmental hygiene by washing their hands regularly with soap and running water, cleaning frequently used items and surfaces, using alcohol based sanitizers, wearing of face masks and hand gloves, and practising social distancing, amongst others, to curb the killer virus COVID-19 from spreading in the country.

He appealed to wealthy Nigerians to assist by providing medical facilities and drugs to hospitals, isolation centres, community health centers, and food stuffs to the less privileged as palliatives to cushion the economic effects of the lockdown on the people.

He suggested that at the expiration of the first phase of the lockdown, the Federal Government, the leadership of the National Assembly, State Governors and other relevant authorities should, as a matter of urgent of public importance, re-strategize and adopt proactive steps to cushion the suffering of Nigerians and other nationals, and then embark on one full week nationwide lockdown to carry out a thorough door-to-door COVID-19 test on everyone during the lockdown period, so as to ascertain the actual number of cases in the country for immediate medical attention, in order to eradicate the deadly global pandemic from Nigeria and save more lives.

He said, if the Federal Government and Ministry of Health could carry out nationwide door-to-door vaccination of children to prevent them from polio and other diseases, then it is also possible to do same with this more deadly COVID-19 virus.

IPDI DEBUNKS ITSEKIRI CLAIM OF IJAW ARROGATING N- DELTA BENEFITS TO ITSELF, SAYS ITSEKIRI LACKS POWER TO DEMAND FOR AMNESTY COORDINATOR

Press Statement

7th April, 2020

IPDI DEBUNKS ITSEKIRI CLAIM OF IJAW ARROGATING N- DELTA BENEFITS TO ITSELF, SAYS ITSEKIRI LACKS POWER TO DEMAND FOR AMNESTY COORDINATOR

Our attention has been drawn to an unfounded, mischievous and unguided open letter addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari, blackmailing and backstabbing Ijaw nation while demanding for an Itsekiri son to be appointed as the next PAP coordinator.
The authors of the said kindergarten open letter, the purported Movement for the Protection of Iwere Homeland, Development and History (MPIHDH), and a factional and insignificant Itsekiri National Youth Council (INYC) adduced that Ijaw nation arrogates every benefit in Niger Delta to itself, and went further to incite other ethnic groups in the region against Ijaw nation as an attempt to discredit the hard earned reputation of Ijaw nation.

The said letter was signed by some jobless Itsekiri youths whose trade mark is blackmailing Ijaw for cheap recognition and minimal favours.
We wouldn't have join issues with the said miserable mischief makers, but silent as well means consent, hence we decided to straighten the record.

It is only an insane person will say Ijaw is arrogating everything in Niger Delta to itself. Those who are grounded in history will agree that it is Itsekiri that is arrogating everything to themselves. It is appalling that Itsekiri who doesn't have a complete local government area is pairing shoulders with almighty Ijaw nation.

Itsekiri should not hurry to forget how it used to arrogated Ijaw and Uhrobo lands and other general benefits to itself in Delta State which brought about WARRI crisis in late 90s till early 2000. Except an insane,  every one knows that the presidential Amnesty programme is not meant for every Tom, Dick, and Harry but it has a targeted persons. It was meant for arm agitators, and at the time of the declaration of the programme, it was only the Ijaws that were into arm agitation with the Federal Government.

The programme was designed to benefit only the Ijaw arm agitators and not to benefit the number of ethnic groups in Niger Delta region. Ijaws died and their Communities in Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Edo and Ondo were invaded and burnt down in the struggle for resource control and self-determination which birthed the presidential amnesty programme.

The Ijaws were tagged as militants, criminals, oil thieves and seapirates. Itsekiris were the first persons we extend hand of fellowship to, but it rejected it. They responded that the Itsekiris were not militants and oil thieves. Same benevolent was extended to the Uhrobos and they embraced it.
The Itsekiri who called Ijaw agitators criminals and earlier back down the hand of fellowship, later protested and that they were marginalised in the programme, and seeks to be considered in the programme. The then coordinator of the programme, Mr. Kingsley Kuku, out of benevolent offered them about Five hundred slots. Itsekiri should have been grateful to Ijaw nation and not to write Concocted stories against Ijaw nation.

It is our candid advice that Itsekiri should stop the unfounded and mischievous agitation as it is provocative and inimical. As far as Ijaw is concerned, Itsekiri does not merit the office of the coordinator of the presidential Amnesty programme but if they will be remorse and be grateful we may consider them for some other administrative positions since they are our historical children.

Suffix to say, Ijaw is the largest ethnic nationality in Niger Delta region, and we are the highest producers of oil and gas in Nigeria Federation.
It may interest you to know that Ijaws are not only in 24 local governments in Niger Delta but in over 30 local governments and about 12 states in the Federation. Ijaw homogeneous states are; Delta, Edo, Ondo, Bayelsa, Ogun, Osun, Lagos, Rivers , Akwa-Ibom, Cross River etc.

However, we want to urge the public to disregard every concocted lies peddled by the purported open letter. It was not true that Ijaw arrogates every thing to itself in Niger Delta. Ijaws are the most peaceful and benevolent in the region.

Therefore, we want to charge President Muhammadu Buhari not to be deceived by the concocted lies of the purported Itsekiri groups. He should disregard their blackmail and mouthmail. They are interested in fermenting fresh trouble in the region. We want them to be called to order for the interest of peace because their new twists and turns are capable of threatening the existing peace in the region.

Signed

Comrade Ozobo Austin,
national president

Mayor Timi Ogobiri,
 National acting Spokesman

Comrade Emma Keneware,
Acting Secretary.

Coronavirus: Princewill Highlights Fears About Lockdown In Delta, Expresses Disappointment On Security Agents Over Loose Border Duty

Coronavirus: Princewill Highlights Fears About Lockdown In Delta, Expresses Disappointment On Security Agents Over Loose Border Duty

Warri_____ A Niger Delta Human Rights Activist, Amb. Comr. Binebai Yerin Princewill has expressed his fears about the 14 days stay at home lockdown in Delta State.

The young activist noted that while Deltans are observing the lockdown in each parts  of the state, he has feelers from the borders that through some crucket means, people are still entering the state from the supposedly closed borders while security agencies watch in akinbo.

He noted that if people could be entering the state massively through the clossed borders "It means that the very essence of the 14 days lockdown has been defeated." He said.

Amb. Binebai wondered what become of the state when those assigned with the border closure seem to have compromised by allowing people to enter into the state without enforcing the order.

Princewill alleged  that closure of the Delta State borders is more important than anything else in the  state, he asked "What if those who had sneaked into our state through the borders before the very eyes of security agents have sneaked in with the virus, who will be held responsible for it?. Yerin wondered.

"We must be very careful as a people, only one mistake may just spoil everything both the government and citizens are doing to ensure that Delta State does not record any case of the virus until the disease will fade away.

"It is my prayer that God should arrest and kill this dreadful disease across the country before the expiration of the lockdown all over the country" . Yerin stated.

He regreted that it was the security agents that claimed champion in Warri while enforcing the stay at home order which resulted to the death of a promising Niger Deltan, Mr. Joseph Pessu.

Security agencies and even the government must not be looking at one way only without looking at other more important areas like the total closure of the borders.

Using Bayelsa State as a reference point, Princewill said it is only borders that are closed as citizens goes about their normal duties except large gatherings.

"My opinion is that the security agents must claim champion in our borders by not allowing any pin to enter into our state through the borders".

However, Binebai maintained that he is totally in agreement with the 14 days stay at home lockdown in the state just as he enjoined Deltans to continue to obey the directives of the government.

Speaking further, he had called on the Delta State Government to live up to the expectations of Deltans by rolling out  palliative measures to cushion the effect as it is not easy for the masses to cope at this period without the government doing anything about it.

"It is not enough to only give directives to the mssses, the Government must take responsibility in providing for citizens of our state, this is the right time to meet the people at their needs.

"It is very strange that up till now, the Delta State Government has not even shared food items nor preventive materials to citizens of the state, this is really bad ". Princewill asserted.

Warri_____ A Delta state born renowned peace and human rights advocate, Comrade Sheriff Mulade has commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the state government for taking the bull by the horns and for yearning to the calls of Deltans of reaching out directly to people which the government has considered and set-up the Delta Food Bank Committee and chaired by the Governor.

Speaking in the oil-rich city of Warri, Delta State on tuesday, the Activist said that the State Food Bank was a welcome development, pointing out that many people are passing through untold hardship as a result of the Coronavirus across the globe.

According to him; "I want to clearly state that, today we are faced with CORONAVIRUS HUNGER, which is more dangerous than the Coronavirus health challenges because you need to be alive to fight the health problems and I want to sincerely commend the Government of Delta State for taking this bold and proactive steps to save lives and to cushion the suffering of Deltans".

Comrade Mulade who is the Ibe-Serimowei of the great Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West LGA of Delta State, once again appealed to Governor Okowa to personally monitor the distribution of the food items so as to reach the vulnerable and poor household devoid of Party interest and politics, adding that; "We are currently faced with human hunger not political campaigns or rallies, therefore all hands must be on deck to overcome this global health pandemic irrespective of party affiliations because lives are more important to be saved now".

Comrade Mulade who is the National Coordinator of the foremost Non Governmental Organisation, Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ in Delta State implored all Deltans to give maximum support and cooperation to the committee being chaired by Governor Okowa to enable them deliver on its mandate to Deltans without party interest.

He also said that; "Our State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa at this trying time must be encouraged, supported in prayers for us to collectively overcome this dangerous health pandemic which is not a respecter of person or personality.

"I want to strongly re-emphasise my appeal to Governor Okowa to kindly consider and fully involve our Traditional Institutions (Royal Fathers) who are more closer and have direct affection to their people than political structures. This strategy I strongly believe to the best of my knowledge will help and give credibility to the Government in the process of reaching out to its grassroot citizens and the receiving communities can monitor and collect their legitimate share, if not political office holders will hijack and resell the items back to the suffering Deltans and other Nigerians",  he added.
