Salutes Buhari Over Appointment Of New Service Chiefs, Calls For Restructuring Of Nigeria

..... Says Now is Best Time to Do So

Francis Tayor

Abuja_____ A Niger Delta born development activist and peace advocate, Chief (Comrade) Sheriff Mulade has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari, and Nigerians for the appointment of the new service chiefs, noting that it will put an end to agitations from the people of the need to rejig the security apparatus of the Nation. He also joined other stakeholders in Nigeria to call for the urgent restructuring of the country following the mismanagement of the nation’s resources, as well as the endless marginalization of the South-South Region of the country.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja on the issue, Chief Mulade who is the National Coordinator of Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, an NGO, said the calls for restructuring by politicians, religious and ethnic groups in parts of the country, especially in recent times, show that restructuring is the only solution to the Nigeria's problems.

Speaking on the role of the Niger Delta in national development, Chief Mulade, the Ibe-Sorimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Delta State, said the region is the main economic live wire of Nigeria by virtue of its crude oil and gas productions which earn the Nation huge financial incomes. He, however, lamented the utter neglect of the oil and gas rich region in terms of infrastructure, health, road construction, economic and human empowerment, as well as security and education, amongst others.

Chief Mulade, a front-line development advocate politician in Warri South West LGA of Delta State, expressed sadness over the high level of political marginalization of the Niger Delta people, many of whom are qualified to work for the growth and development of Nigeria but are unfortunately not included in the present adminstration, and are rather ridiculed when making suggestions for nation building.

While commending President Muhammadu Buhari for his proactiveness towards tackling the Insecurity challenges, especially with the appointment of the new service chiefs, he however noted that restructuring is part of the developmental agenda of the All Progressive Congress ( APC ), as a party. It was also one of the main reasons the people voted the party to power in the first place. Mulade charge the presidency to listen to the voices of the people and restructure the country now before it is too late. Chief Mulade said the call is necessitated by the rise in the spate of insecurity across the Nation.

Fulani Quit Notice: Group Defends New Oyo Commissioner Of Police, Onadeko From Ethnic Bias

Fulani Quit Notice: Group Defends New Oyo Commissioner Of Police, Onadeko From Ethnic Bias

Daniel Dafe, Abraka

A group in the Southwest region of Nigeria, Egbe Omo Oduduwa Women League, has defended the new Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mrs. Ngozi Onadeko, for her bravery, professionalism and competence in handling the security challenges in the state amidst the quit notice handed to Fulani herders in Ibapara axis of Oyo state, saying that she has demonstrated lots of professional and unbiased acumen in carrying out her duties so far.

The President General of the Women League, Deacon Iyabo Abosede, in a statement released in Ibadan, extolled the professional virtues of CP Ngozi Onadeko who hails from the Igbo speaking South East but married to a Yoruba man.

The statement said that “by law and tradition, the CP is a Yoruba lady by marriage and thus has no business with the outlawed indigenous People of Biafra IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who wants to taint the sterling records of CP Onadeko through his unfounded campaign in Sahara Reporters and other online media platforms.

The group said: "We are firmly in support of CP Ngozi Onadeko’s competence to bring peace and justice to the good people of Oyo state and indeed the South West people who are faced with dire security challenges.”

Egbe Omo Oduduwa Women League warned the likes of Nnamdi Kanu to rather than promote ethnic division, a situation that already has plunged Nigeria into a state of chaos to desist from such acts henceforth.

“This is a time when we should rather focus on what unites us rather than what divides us. The situation in Oyo State looks under control. The CP needs our support and not unnecessary jabs to set apart ethnic groups,” the statement added.

According to the statement, “Kanu’s statement asking her to flaunt the order from the Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, for the immediate arrest of Igboho and threatening to deal with her family in Igbo land, depicts him as an enemy of Nigeria.”

Recall that Kanu had advised the new Commissioner of Police to resign from her position, saying she was strategically appointed to foment regional enmity.

“We have no doubt that she will handle the issue the best way possible,” the statement concluded.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Onadeko in a statement by CSP. Fadeyi Olugbenga, noted that the actions of Sunday Igboho led to the recent clashes between Fulani herdsmen in the area and the host community of Igangan.

She however warned that nobody will be allowed to cause further breakdown of law and order while an investigation has been launched to determine details of the Igangan incident and bring perpetrators to justice.

He said that Gov. Douye Diri of Bayelsa would inaugurate the projects at the invitation of Okowa, adding the 4.5-kilometre Ubeji road was constructed by Ark Marine Engineering Limited.

“It is fully completed though with minor maintenance which the contractor will carry out from Monday next week because we intend to inaugurate that road on Feb. 2.

“His Excellency is inviting the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, to inaugurate the Ubeji road and the access road from NPA to Warri Refinery, which is also completed and awaiting road markings which will commence tomorrow and will be completed within three days.

“It’s a very good job they did for us and we are very happy about it.

“Governor Okowa believes that Deltans should benefit from his administration in spite of the challenges that go with the COVID-19 pandemic,’’ he said.

Augoye said that the projects were economically viable, adding that the first one was a link to Warri Refinery and Petrochemicals Company while the Ubeji road connected five oil tank farms.

On his part, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Patrick Ukah, said that Army Day Secondary School was one of the 12 model secondary schools embarked upon by the previous administration in the state.

He said Governor Okowa believed that government was a continuum and decided to complete the project which was at 30 per cent stage when he assumed office.

“We are happy to say that it is one of the model schools we have in the state today and you can see the population that we have there.

“The Ighogbadu Secondary School is an executive response from the governor. It was one of the products of the town hall meetings we had with the people of this area and the governor assured that he was going to construct a secondary school here.

“Today I am happy to report that the school is completed now and over 200 students have resumed classes here.

“I am also happy that some of the roads have been constructed and we will do all within our powers to see that the school entrance is put to good use.

“We are happy that the schools are well constructed and it’s a good environment for teaching and learning,” Ukah said.

On compliance with COVID-19 preventive protocols, he said that he was impressed with the schools he had visited.

“What I have seen in the few schools I have gone to, I am quite impressed because I saw most of the pupils and the teachers with their face masks.

“It is not easy to monitor children because some of them will pull it off, because it is very inconveniencing; so it behoves the teachers to always remind them to wear it properly.

“We need to give them constant reminders to ensure that they become used to it.

“So far, I am impressed, but in some places you still see some laxities and that is why we have told teachers that before they start any lesson, they must go through the COVID-19 protocol.

“The idea is for the teachers and students to become apostles in carrying out the COVID-19 message from the homes to the community that COVID-19 is real.

“Our prayer is that God should keep protecting us so that no teacher or student will contact this ailment,” Ukah stated.

Loan: UK-Based Nigerian Appeals To Former Pastor To Pay Back £198,000 Collected Six Years Ago

Loan: UK-Based Nigerian Appeals To Former Pastor To Pay Back £198,000 Collected Six Years Ago

An indigene of Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government of Delta State, based in the United Kingdom (UK), Mrs. Rachel Anayo Nwombasi, has appealed to her former pastor, Dapo Adegboyega, in charge of the UK branch of World Evangelism Bible Church, WEBIC (before it shut down), to pay back a loan of 198, 000 Pounds she helped him collect from Halifax Bank, UK, eight years ago.

Rachel, a trained nurse now was a pastor in under him many years ago before she left for another ministry.

A close relative of Rachel who spoke to Oasis Magazine (OM) on the matter under conditions of anonymity, said the fact that Adegboyega is a cleric made Rachel consider his loan request, saying that the agreement signed with the bank has been broken.

The said pastor hails from Sango, Ibadan Nigeria.

According to the relative, the pastor has refused to reply her lawyer’s countless letters, adding that the bank is furious over the issue.

“The police and the fraud department in the UK are all aware and know how they scam people here,” she added.

She continued: “The father of Dapo, Prophet Samson Adegboyega, Founder, Salvation Proclamations Anointed Church (SPAC), Ibadan is also aware of the whole issue and did nothing about it. Even Dapo’s wife, Lola Adegboyega and brother, Tobi Adegboyega are all in this scam together.”

“Rachel is looking for a way to contact the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) or any pastor’s organization to help her compel him to pay this loan,” she said.

“To tell you how close she is to the Adegboyegas, anytime Prophet Samson goes to the UK to minister, they always ministered together and if he does not see her, he will not minister. She was like a daughter to them all.

“Her former pastor has kept on promising to pay for over five years now. He said he wants to build a church with the money. No church was built. After taking the loan and he refused to pay, he now ran to his father’s church.”

Based on findings, the initial sum was 110, 000 Pounds. The interest added made it 198, 000.

Rachel has been paying the interest on the loan, while the pastor is said to be on the run after his church closed down.

OM gathered that if not for the lockdown, he would have since returned to Nigeria.

When contacted, Prophet Samson Adegboyega said he was not in the know of the while issue but said it was mentioned to him many years ago.

The cleric said “it was a lie from the pit of hell that Dapo was planning to come back to Nigeria.”

“His family is in the UK. What is. he coming to do in Nigeria? The courts are there and I expect her to take him to court,” he opined.

IPDI Calls On Gov. Douye Diri To Conduct INC Inconclusive Election, Warns ljaw Affairs Commissioner Against Manipulation

IPDI Calls On Gov. Douye Diri To ConductINC Inconclusive Election, Warns ljaw Affairs Commissioner Against Manipulation

JANUARY 9, 2021

PRESS STATEMENT

IPDI CALLS FOR COMPLETION OF INC INCONCLUSIVE ELECTIONS-WARNS IJAW AFFAIRS COMMISSIONER AGAINST MANIPULATION

Our attention has been drawn to the pointless delay in completing the inconclusive INC elections held in 2018. It is our call that His Excellency Sen. Douye Diri should respond timely and positively to this call and ensure that the INC election is concluded without further delay. Every day the election is not conducted the destiny of Ijaw Nation is stagnated. It is worrisome that Ijaw nation is in disarray. The leaders are confused, elders are wondering and youth are locking horns in division, because the head is sick.

The delay in completing the INC disrupted election shows that truth has been murdered and buried in Ijaw nation. Ijaw nation cannot be seen as a banana republic. It is shameful! Ijaw leadership must do the needful. INC must be resuscitated to provide leadership for Ijaw nation.

Again, information reaching us reveals that some persons from the previous administration of Bayelsa State have started plotting to manipulate the electoral process, directing the new Commissioner of Ijaw affairs, Bayelsa State to unilaterally dissolve the existing ELECO and other organs in INC without the mandate of CITRE and reappoint preferred elements as members of ELECO and other organs that matter. This position, if true, is capable of fanning discord in the electoral process of the unconcluded INC election. All to ensure an easy ride for their preferred candidate again.

Meanwhile, Ijaw nation had not said new Steering Committee and ELECO should be appointed. We still have confidence in those committees and until Ijaw nation decide in one voice to replace those bodies it will be a sick joke to unilaterally dissolve the existing ELECO and other adhoc organs in the Ijaw Apex body.

It will be recalled that there was a strong attempt to impose leadership on INC by the Seriake Dickson led government of restoration. We stood on our feets to dislodge Seriake Dickson’s conspiracy theory. We will not accept any attempt to manipulate the electoral process by anybody. Both members of the Steering Committee and ELECO were nominated to represent the various zones recognised by the constitution of Ijaw National Congress. So far the zones in question have not found their members wanting. The Commissioner of Ijaw affairs should ask about IPDI and learn from the errors of the previous administration on INC issues.

However, we admonish every litigant in INC to sheath sword. Let us bury some personal interests to rejuvenate INC for the general good of Ijaw nation as the need to conclude the INC inconclusive election cannot be overemphasized. We also advice that the existing ELECO be funded and let it do its job uninterrupted.

A nation without a head has lost its bearing. At this critical hour of our existence in Nigeria, we cannot move forward when we lack leadership. Our neighbours are taking advantage of our weak system and many things have gone bad because of our pursuit of politics of self-centeredness.

IPDI as a group will not be a party to any attempt to manipulate the electoral process. The INC matters are not only Bayelsa state issues. They spread across the six states in Nigeria Ijaws are located geographically and politically. The Commissioner Ijaw affairs should not create problem when and where there is none. He should know that the entire Ijaws from, Delta, Ondo, Edo, Rivers, Lagos, Abuja, Akwa-Ibom, Cross river etc are interested in it. We will not hesitate to call for his sack and rubbish him in court if he does not stop the ongoing conspiracy theory to manipulate the electoral process.

We urge the governor of Bayelsa state, Chief host to the INC, to preside over the electoral process by himself as we have started losing confidence in his Ijaw affairs Commissioner.

It is our candid advice that he (Douye) should call for INC stakeholders meeting and seek the opinion of the concerned stakeholders to determine the way forward as to conduct free, fair and credible supplementary (unconcluded) INC election in no distance time.

Signed

Comrade Ozobo Austin

National president, Ijaw People's Development Initiative, IPDI.

Gen. Ogunbos Excapes Death As Aggrieved Militants Bomb His Home ln Bayelsa

Gen. Ogunbos Excapes Death As Aggrieved Militants Bomb His Home ln Bayelsa

Francis Tayor

Yenagoa______ A coalition of aggrieved militants in Niger Delta has bombed the country home of a former militant leader in Bayelsa State, Mr. Paul Eris, alias “General” Ogunbos, who they claimed abandoned his boys to suffer in the creeks and is living big in the city.

The aggrieved militants under the auspices of Niger-Delta Cleansing Force for Development, NDCFD, weekend, bombed his country home in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State for the second time in one week.

A source revealed the former militant leader managed to escape, adding that the invasion of his home was the beginning of planned attack by foot soldiers on their erstwhile leaders, across the oil region.

The irate militants had on December 25, launched a similar attack on the the former militant leader’s home, accusing him and others of feeding fat on Presidential Amnesty Programme funds.

Our reporter could not reach the ex-militant leader yesterday, for comments as his phone lines were switched off, but a source close to him denied that he neglected his boys or misappropriated their funds, describing the allegations as false.

Spokesman of  NDCFD, Blacky Peres, in a statement, Sunday, confirmed the two  attacks, saying more attacks will come.

His words: “The group, which is made up of a coalition of militants from different camps and groups, is also responsible for the second round deadly attack on “General” Ogunbos, which took place today, Sunday,  January 3,2021 in his community.

“The militants under the NDCFD are those who fought with some self acclaimed generals for the emancipation of the zone but were neglected and left to suffer in the creeks while they live in affluence without carrying their boys along, instead set them up to be killed by the military.

“The boys are now out to cleanse the Niger Delta and most painful is that the so-called “generals” neglected their strength which is their foot soldiers and decided to live selfish life styles to the detriment of the long neglected region and we will not stop until our desire is achieved.

“All those who have used the sweat of the struggle for their personal aggrandizement will not be left out as we have fully identified  all of them in different parts of the region and we will go after them one after the other.

“Our governors, NDDC Board members, Niger Delta Ministry and other agencies of the federal and state governments supervising development for the zone that have turned public funds to their personal own will not be left out in this cleansing until we see a clear picture of development, enough is enough.”

“It is painful that Niger Deltans have continued to connived with ex militant generals, International Oil Companies, federal and state governments to shortchange the region of its needed development, this trend must stop because nobody is bigger than the region.

“What is supposed to come to the regions is diverted mid way while the people and region wallow in abject poverty, deprivation and gross underdevelopment, the so called General claim to the lords over the people, our bullets will visit them,” the rebelling militants asserted.
