PTI Accident: Oromoni Condoles With Bereaved Families, Calls For Ban On Keke Plying Highways

The Chairman Delta State Taskforce on Environment, Hon. Sylvester Oromoni has condoled with the families of the woman and her baby who lost their lives in a fatal Keke accident at PTI junction Effurun, in Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.

The sad fatal accident occurred on Wednesday 20th January, 2021 at PTI junction Effurun, when a tipper break failed the driver and ran into a Keke Napep carrying the woman and her daughter killing them on the spot.

Oromoni decried the incident as very unfortunate and recklessness on the part of drivers, charging Deltans to accept the ban of Keke Napep plying federal highways. He stated that if Keke are banned from plying federal highways, it will drastically reduce road crashes.

According to him,  " the sad news of the death of a woman and her daughter in a rather bizarre circumstance in Warri on Wednesday is quite unfortunate and disheartening. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and equally use this medium once again to call on Deltans, especially Keke Napep operators to accept the ban on Keke plying federal highways. Keke are free to ply within streets and run town services but not highways. That will help to reduce the nature of such fatal accidents on our highways, Oromoni stated."

He therefore, called on Deltans to cooperate with the policies of Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa led government in order to protect lives and properties in the state," the statement adds.
