LATIMORE’S SACK: Fire Aniagwu, Ifeajika as well, Rights Group tell Okowa

LATIMORE’S SACK: Fire Aniagwu, Ifeajika as well, Rights Group tell Okowa

…Says Okowa Should Prove To Deltans He Is Not A Tribalistic Governor But Governor To All Deltans

A Group, Niger Delta Environmental and Good Governance Crusader (NDEGC), has called for the immediate sack of the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ifeajika Olisa, in order to further rid Governor Okowa’s administration of other greedy media personnel.

The Group Coordinator, Comrade Kelly Gilor, stated this today while fielding questions from newsmen in Warri following the sack of Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, former Executive Assistant on Communication to Governor Okowa.

He noted that Governor Okowa is a good and purposeful leader who means well for Deltans but has surrounded himself with selfish and greedy people in the likes of Aniagwu and Ifeajika and the duo has been having unholy cold war with the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.

According to Gilor, the publisher of Ijaw Voice newspaper “The Commissioner for Information and the CPS doesn’t have good relationship with State NUJ executive let alone its members, except for some few journalists whom thay have been using to cause problems and disorganized the State NUJ.

“As Coordinator of Concerned Journalists For Good Working Relationship With Government in Delta State, We are going to stage a protest match round the State and submit a letter to Governor Okowa if the two smart alecks are not sacked within seven days,”He said

The renowned Niger Delta activist alleged that since the appointments of Aniagwu and Ifeajika as Commissioner and Chief Press Secretary, Delta journalists have been suffering untold disrespect in their hands. And they have been using this divide and rule tactics to cause disunity among journalists in the State”.

“Ask Aniagwu of what value is his Smart Delta TV that he is using to syphon the State money? He is gradually killing the three State owned media houses especially DBS Asaba and Pointer newspaper. Go and find out how many copies of the Pointer newspaper that is being printed for circulation daily. He ordered that only 500 copies should be printed and circulated for a State like Delta and the country at large, who does that if the intention is not to kill the newspaper house? Things were a lot better when Chief Patrick Ukah was in Information. Or Is it DBS Asaba where the G.M, Mr. Frankwhyte is struggling to push and start like a rickety vehicle. The state owned media houses only goes to defend its yearly budget, yet they don’t get their montly subvention to run the place from the commisioner. The Pointer case is even the worst, I feel sorry for those guys each time I visit the Pointer office”. Comrade Gilor added.

Comrade Gilor called on Governor Okowa to as a matter of proactive step relief the Commissioner of Information and the CPS of their duties so as to save his good name and the good works he the governor is doing for journalists in the state and Deltans at

Just-ln: ' Vacate our land now', Ogbe-ljoh youths tell Aladja

Just-ln: ' Vacate our land now', Ogbe-ljoh youths tell Aladja

...... Frowns at Gov. Okowa unwillingness to settle dispute over the past six years

Warri_______ The youths of Ogbe-ljoh Warri kingdom under the umbrella body of Ogbe-ljoh Warri kingdom youth leaders and Stakeholders Forum, has given a marching order to Aladja Community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State to as a matter of urgency vacate the land they are currently occupying, stressing that the Aladja people are tenants to Ogbe-ljoh community and that they accommodated them because of love, peaceful coexistence in the past.

The Ogbe-ljoh youths disclosed this on Sunday 26th December, 2021 through a comprehensive letter written to the Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, where they expressed displeasure over the state government's inconsistent and unwillingness to settle the land dispute between the two communities over the past six years in office.

In the letter jointly signed by the current Youth President of Ogbe-ljoh, Mr. James Etimadimene as well as former youth leaders of the community, including Amb. Aken Edwin who is the President of the forum, Comrade Victor Akemotubo, Secretary of the forum among other fifteen youth leaders accused governor Okowa of being biased and lacked the political will to do the right thing at the appropriate time in bringing the communal crises to end.

The youths noted that the inconsistent action of the state government shows that he is already taking side with the Aladja community in order to cause mayhem against the Ogbe-ljoh people, hence they won't tolerate such nonsense to keep calm any further and had decided to take their destiny in their hand.

In the letter, the Ogbe-ljoh youths demanded the State Government to direct Aladja people to quit their land, claiming that the disputed land belongs to them and that they will use any means to get ride of it.

They further urged the state government to be focused on the demarcation of the Local Government Boundary, and that anything beyond that is against the existing law and will not be accepted anymore.

In conclusion, the youths urged Gov. Okowa to wake up to his responsibility by taking drastic action to deal decisively with any party that breaches the Peace Accord earlier signed by both community's. They asked Gov. Okowa to do the right thing before it is too late, the statement added.

However, read below the full letter addressed to the State Government by Ogbe-ljoh youth forum:

TELL ALADJA TO QUIT OUR LAND OR WE WILL CLAIM OUR TERRITORIES BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY: OGBE-IJOH YOUTH LEADERS AND STAKEHOLDERS FORUM CALL ON "GOV OKOWA"

Your Excellency Sir, we sincerely appreciate your efforts towards the land dispute between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh even though we are not satisfied with the present steps taking to disenfranchise the Ogbe-Ijoh people.

Your Excellency Sir, you are aware that the Ogbe-Ijoh Warri kingdom has been a peaceful and reasonable Kingdom from inception. We have always maintained our free, fair and truthful friendship and relationship with neighbours.

We believe in peaceful coexistence between neighbours hence we overlook issues that are capable of causing anarchy between our kingdom and her neighbours, even to our detriment when it concerns peace and harmony about our environment.

Sir, kindly permit us to draw your attention to few documents submitted to you and the inquiry committee at the resurgent of the crisis in March 2016 and to equally summarize the acts of the past days' in order to make it clear why you should ask the Aladja people to quit our God given land.

Your Excellency, Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom who are first occupants of the territory whose communities have several treaties with the Colonial masters peacefully yielded to the first plead of our tenants( Ogbebiotu, interpreted as Ogbesobo, Urhobos in Ogbe-Ijoh land.) to join their Urhobo division in 1952 which led to the shift of our original boundary with Ovwian Community and the establishment of the current local government boundary.

In the early 80's they have encroached the new established boundary line which invited several warnings but their failure to adhere to the warnings leads to the communal clash between the Ogbe-Ijoh people and their customary tenants ( the Ogbesobo, presently parading themselves as Aladja community which was not their original Identity) which continued till 1996 when their son the late Major Gen Dumuje used his led troop of Soldiers to raised down our beloved Ogbe-Ijoh Community the Traditional headquarters of the revered Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom.

We lost most of our aged parents who couldn't run as at when they invaded, we lost hundreds of children who couldn't swim, youths and men died defenselessly, millions of properties and money were carted away by the Aladja people with the aid of the military, they burn all our houses and rendered our people homeless and hopeless.

The strength of ownership engolved  the heros of the Kingdom who stood for the rebirth of our great Community.

Despite the fact that we have suffered all this pains, troubles and wickedness in the hands of our tenants we still stretched hands of friendship to them just to live in peace and harmony.

In 1999, 4years After they exibited their wickedness, the youths of Ogbe-Ijoh deliberately went to Aladja to buy football and the next day Aladja youths also visited Ogbe-Ijoh that simple act of forgiveness carried out by the Ogbe-Ijoh youths gave birth to our reunion. We had always given a hand of friendship to the Aladja  people who are unfriendly friends.

In the year 2000 the Aladja people exibited their wickedness led by Chief Wiliki, Mr. Oyibo, Brutugba, Andrew Gbese,  Bezi Tegolo and host of others. They started with extortion, illegal collection of money from the road users, beating up road users, destruction of new buildings in Ogbe-Ijoh, blocking of the road, kidnaping of Ogbe Ijoh people, incidents too numerous to mention.

The Ogbe-Ijoh people refused to retaliate rather we serially incidented all this happenings to security agents and Government.

Several meetings were held and  peace accords were signed with securities agents but the Aladja community has been defaulting without any due punishment giving to them by Government, of which all genuine security agents in the state that keeps and checks records will testify of what we are saying now and this dubious acts/misbehaviors continued untill march 2016.

In March 24th 2016 the Youths of Aladja community came to Ogbe-Ijoh with cutlasses and guns in the presence of Soldiers, they cut several persons in Ogbe-Ijoh including a military man which lead to the present situation at hand.

Despite the proves of ownership of our God given territory, we still listened to the Government, respected the Government in several meetings held with the Governor of the state in 2016 till date.

The Government pleaded for calm and seek that both communities should live in harmony which the Ogbe-Ijoh people adhere to but were very blunt to make their point known that the entire land in question belongs to them but for the sake of friendship and other similar factors considered by Ogbe-Ijoh people made us shift our traditional boundaries severally before the establishment of the 1952 local government boundaries and other issues postulated above and the failure of the Aladja people to accept these obvious considerations out of desperation for what ever reason as led to our firm resolve not to shift grounds anymore.

The Ogbe-Ijoh community considered the plea of the Governor and cooperate with Government in several ways for peace to reign yet the Ogbebiotu (Aladja people) who doesn't know where they came from, has always thwarted all efforts taken to resolve the land dispute by destroying government pillars used by it's committee to demarcate the LGA boundary lines as indicated in Government instrument establishing the boundary, stopped the Government enquiry committee from working, blocking of Government road, denying Government workers passage, beating of Government personnel and Ogbe-Ijoh people, burning of houses and killing of Ogbe-Ijoh people etc. Yet the Government has not taking any drastic action against this warmongers.

The committee set up by the Government, showed it's individual findings which is 289 hectares to be the disputed land in-between both communities which the Governor actually directed the committee to concentrate on mostly the identification of the existing local government boundary and this was also crumbled because of the disagreement from Aladja community.

Hon. Jite Brown Udu local government chairman and Hon. Taiye Duke Warri South West Local government chairman came and said governor has given them order to demarcate the land.
Hon. Jite Brown (an Aladja son, a core sponsor of this crisis) forcefully gave our land to his Aladja people in a ratio of six and half poles for Aladja against three and half poles for Ogbe -Ijoh(The world is watching).

This ratio is against every negotiation, agreement and/or adjustment the Ogbe-Ijoh people has reached with government and Aladja people in all levels of commitment yet our leaders asked us to stay calm and watch what they are doing, so we obeyed them even when it's not convenient with our kingdom but the Aladja youths keep disrupting the process, on the 20th Dec. 2021 they direct their surveyor and representatives to back out of the demarcation  process and 21st Dec. 2021 they came with speed boats filled with youths to stop the work and Dec. 22, 2021 the Aladja people sporadically shot at the military personnel, surveyors, workers and our representatives while working in the  environment in order to truncate the process yet no action was taken against the Aladja community. These inactions of the Aladja youths over the land demarcation is totally  unacceptable and will not be condoned while sharing the other part of the land because the said portion of land referred to as disputed land or land under demarcation belongs to the people of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom.

It's astonishing to realize that government couldn't stand firm to defend the country's boundary law of 1952, a document that is clearly stating boundary lines of two Local governments and states, the same document that delineate udu and Uvwie local governments, the same document that demarcate Warri South from Warri North, Delta State from Edo state, the same document that separate all local governments and states in this country couldn't be uphold in the case of Udu and Warri South West Local governments.

The Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom has over beared the inconsistent and insincere characters of the Aladja community, the Aladja community has shown their wickedness and unfriendliness, they are liers/cheats and defenders of evil.

If they can deny a national document signed by both parties that established the current boundary between the two local governments what will make one think that they won't deny new boundaries given by the state or local government chairmen.

We feel the Delta State Government is biase and it seem to have lost the will power to say the glaring truth about this land dispute because they are probably afraid of Aladja Community and/or the political bigwigs backing them from the state and federal.

In view of the above, we realized that Government is taking our calmness and cooperation for stupidity and cowardice and the Government as decided to oppress the Ogbe-Ijoh people to favour the aggressors.

Therefore the Youth leaders of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom has resolved as follows:

1. The State Government led by his Excellency Senator Dr. Ifeanyi A. Okowa should direct the Aladja people to quit our God giving land or we will claim our territory by any means necessary.

2. We don't have anymore land to share with our tenant's henceforth we will never tolorate any form of misbehaviors from the Aladja
Community.

3. The State Government or its agents should solely concentrate on the DEMARCATION of the  LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOUNDARY anything outside that is against the existing law and will not be accepted.

Finally and most importantly, the Delta State Government can't be seen to be inconsistent in terms of demarcating the land. Government must be firm in ensuring that the right thing is done at the right time.

Signed.

Christmas: FG Declares Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th Public Holidays

Christmas: FG Declares Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th Public Holidays

The federal government has declared Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th December 2021 and Monday, 3rd January 2022 as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year Day celebrations respectively.

Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, made the declaration on behalf of the federal government in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Shuaib Belgore, on Wednesday morning.

He felicitated with Christians and all Nigerians at home and in the diaspora on this year’s Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Aregbesola enjoined Christians to practice the doctrines of Christ, which include but are not limited to faith, hope and love.

“We must emulate the life of Jesus Christ in His practice and teachings on humility, service, compassion, patience, peace and righteousness that His birth signifies.

“This will be the best way to portray Christ and celebrate his birth,” he noted.

He emphasized that peace and security were two critical conditions for economic development and prosperity.

He urged Christians and Nigerians to make the best use of this festive period to pray for the total eradication of insecurity bedevilling the country.

Aregbesola also charged Nigerians not to be lulled into a false sense of security on the COVID-19 pandemic but to note that it is increasingly assuming a very dangerous and harmful dimension with the emergence of a virulent variant, Omicron.

“This calls for deliberate responsibility and discipline on the part of all,” the Minister stressed.

The Minister enjoined all to adhere strictly to and observe all the stipulated non-pharmaceutical protocols and guidelines such as wearing of facemasks, frequent washing of hands with soap and water, using of hand sanitiser and avoidance of large groups.

Also, he urged quick report to medical authorities of any respiratory illness observed in self and others before, during and after the Yuletide.

Speaking further, the Minister said this Yuletide calls for spartan discipline in order to prevent the spread of the virus in communities and the nation as a whole.

“Moderately celebrate the festival without large groupings and observe all the protocols stipulated by medical authorities. Take it as a point of personal responsibility to prevent the spread of the virus,” the Minister enjoined.

Dowen suspects bail: Oromoni reacts, calls on FG, IGP, others to ensure Justice over son's death

Dowen suspects bail: Oromoni reacts, calls on FG, IGP, others to ensure Justice over son's death

Mr Sylvester Oromoni (Snr), father of the late 12-year-old student of Dowen College Lagos has said that he is surprised that bail was granted to five arrested suspected before completion of the police investigation.

Oromoni while addressing journalists on Wednesday in Delta insisted that the 21-day remand period granted the police to investigate the death of his son is not due until December 28, 2021, and he was surprised to hear that they have been released on bail.

“The police are saying that they are not done with their investigation and granting these boys bail will not help with their investigation and they were even planning that after the 21 days if they are not done with the investigation, they will ask for an extension.

“We are surprised that they were granted bail when the days they gave them have not expired. As a parent we are not comfortable with that, although we cannot question the judge,” he said.

Oromoni added that the autopsy results are ready and will be made public in due time.

He also alleged that the school authorities in connivance with the parents of the accused may be working against his quest in seeking justice for his late.

He called on President Muhammadu Buhari, Inspector General of Police, the Lagos State police commissioner, and the Delta State government to ensure that justice prevails on the matter.

A Chief Magistrates’ court in the Yaba area of Lagos on Tuesday granted bail to five students of Dowen College following a charge of conspiracy and homicide made against them by the Police.

The police charged the minors following the alleged murder of their schoolmate, Sylvester Oromoni, aged 12.

On December 9, the five minors were remanded in a juvenile home over the death of their schoolmate who was allegedly attacked in a case of bullying while in school.

Yusuf Buhari Turbane As District Head of Kwasarawa in Daura

Yusuf Buhari Turbane As District Head of Kwasarawa in Daura

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, and other top government functionaries were among the dignitaries that stormed Daura, Katsina State on Saturday for the turbaning ceremony of President Muhammadu Buhari’s son, Yusuf.

Some other lawmakers as well as the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje were also in attendance at the event.

As earlier reported by Naija News, Yusuf, son of President Muhammadu Buhari, is now the new District Head of Kwasarawa, Duara in Katsina State.

Yusuf Buhari was turbaned as Taliban Daura by the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk, on Saturday 18th December in Daura.

Meanwhile, President Buhari and his wife, Aisha are both unable to attend the ceremony as they are currently away in Turkey for a summit.

Yusuf Buhari turbaned as the District Head of Kwasarawa, Duara in Katsina State.

It will be recalled that the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk stated that the reason for offering Yusuf the title was to prevent him from strolling around Abuja and Yola, his mother’s hometown.

He said: “We are giving him this title to reciprocate all the good things his father, President Muhammadu Buhari, has done to Daura.

Why We Conferred Title On Yusuf Buhari – Emir Of Daura

“Even if you don’t like Buhari, you know that Daura of today is different from what it were six years ago. So, to reciprocate this gesture, we gave him the title of Talban Daura, which he gave to his only son, Yusuf. This will prevent him from strolling around Yola (his mother’s hometown) and Abuja.

Customs Intercepts Container Filled With Assorted Guns In Lagos

Customs Intercepts Container Filled With Assorted Guns In Lagos

A container filled with arms and ammunition have been seized by officers of the Nigeria Customs Service attached to Tin Can Island Command.

We gathered that the container was intercepted on Friday during a routine check by some customs officers.

Speaking with reporters, spokesman of the Tin Can Customs, Uche Ejesieme, said the container was seized when the owner couldn’t give a satisfactory answer to the officers on duty.

Ejesieme said the owner claimed that the consignment contained electronics and other items.

He stated that the officers became suspicious of its content and upon close examination of the cartons discovered that they were filled with guns.

Ejesieme said that the service will conduct a thorough investigation into the matter with a view to unravelling the criminal gang behind arms importation.

He said, “The Command wish to confirm very categorically that during routine examination at the terminal B2 (Vehicle) of the TICT on Friday, 17th December 2021, our operatives stumbled on a suspected container laden with arms and possibly ammunition.

“But as we speak, what we have done as a command is that we have written to the terminal to evacuate the container immediately to enforcement unit for 100 per cent examination so that we can actually ascertain the quantity and other relevant information.

“So, as we speak, we expect the terminal to evacuate the container to the enforcement unit where we intend to strip it, and the quantity, names of people involved and other further information would be available.

“In line with service protocol, the command would inform the Customs high command in Abuja after the container had been thoroughly examined at the enforcement unit of the command.

“This is why we have not issued an official statement regarding the seizure. As we speak, we do not have full details of who is behind the import, the country of import and the model of guns. All these will be made known at the end of the investigations.

“Most times, the suspect you see is those freight forwarders and agents coming for examination, but we are more interested in getting to the importer and everyone involved in that criminal importation to nip it in the bud.

Speaking during his visit to the PANDEF leader, Anyim said he came to seek Clark’s wise counsel on his presidential bid and to seek his opinion on the state of the nation.

The former SGF promised to work for the development of the country and to advance the unity of equity of the nation.

He stated that he wants to become President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor because he understands the challenges facing the country and is competent enough to address them.

Clark also asked Anyim to continue to persuade and reassure other Nigerians to share that vision of unity and progress.

RE: SYLVESTER OROMONI, A REJOINDER TO DR. KEMI OLUNLOYO'S STATEMENT

RE: SYLVESTER OROMONI, A REJOINDER TO DR. KEMI OLUNLOYO'S STATEMENT

A Press Statement

17 December, 2021

Comrade Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho is a Child’s Rights Activist mandated by law to act in the interest of children in Nigeria.

This Press statement is issued by Comrade Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho for himself and not on behalf of Chief Femi Falana, SAN nor his chamber.

My attention has been drawn to the statement issued by one Dr. Kemi Olunloyo on 16/12/2021 at about 8:45 on her Facebook page as it concerns the respected legal practitioner, Chief Femi Falana, SAN and the late Sylvester Oromoni.

I have also perused through the said hogwash, gibberish and bunkum statement issued by Dr. Kemi Olunloyo with no iota of veneration to the legal icon but, however, without joining issues with the utterances and exclamations of Dr. Kemi Olunloyo touching on the personality of Chief Femi Falana, SAN, but on the rights of the affected children, I freely state as follow:

Dr. Kemi Olunloyo was quoted thus, “Falana investigate the children Police have in custody. One of them is holding a document that Sylvester consented to and his Family are well aware…I have information that could make or break this case ….”

The issue to determine here is whether, late Sylvester Oromoni can give his consent to participate in a criminal organization while as a child?

My response to Dr. Kemi Olunloyo’s reckless and rash statement will be not far fetch from the provisions of the law since the statement was touching on the rights of a child, late Sylvester Oromoni who died in a mysterious circumstance.

It will be recalled, Dr. Kemi Olunloyo has earlier claimed that the late Sylvester Oromoni drank engine oil as part of the cult initiation process, adding that Oromoni was not bullied.

“Sylvester Oromoni death involved Hazing he allegedly participated in. It is important for Nigerians to know that hazing is a crime in many countries but NOT in Nigeria. The bulk of the investigation should focus on adult supervision when this was going on”, Dr. Kemi Olunloyo said.

It should be noted at this juncture, hazing involves forced or coerced alcohol or other drug consumption, beating, paddling or other forms of assault. Branding, forced or coerced ingestion of vile substances or concoctions. If charged as a felony, hazing is punishable under the criminal code Act of Nigeria.

The Criminal Code Act provides at section 337: “Any person who unlawfully does and with the intent to injure or annoy another, causes any poison or other noxious thing to be administered to, or taken by, any person, and thereby endangered his life, or does him some grievous harm, is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment for fourteen years.”

The consent Dr. Kemi Olunloyo was referring to was the alleged consent she claimed was given by the late Sylvester Oromoni to be initiated into a cult group which is a violation of the rights of a child.

Section 26(1) of the Child’s Rights Act provides “No person shall employ, use or involve a child in any activity involving or leading to the commission of any other offences not already specified in this part of the Act”.  It should be noted here that offences not already specified in the Act includes but not limited to grievous harm.

Section 26(2) of the Child’s Rights Act provides “A person who contravenes the provisions of Subsection (1) of this Section commits an offence and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term of fourteen years.

Dr. Kemi Olunloyo’s action of placing the blame on the late Sylvester Oromoni for causing his own death is very worrisome and disturbing.

The ace journalist’s averment that Hazing is not a crime in Nigeria is infuriating, a ploy to mislead unsuspecting members of the public and the Police as hazing is punishable under the criminal code Act and the Child’s Rights Act respectively.

Signed

IPDI, Ozobo, Comrade community threaten legal action against Burutu lawmakers over bill on night burial

IPDI, Ozobo, Comrade community threaten legal action against Burutu lawmakers over bill on night burial

.....Say bill is animalistic

Timi Black

The Ijaw People's Development Initiative IPDI, Comrade Ozobo Austin, a Niger Delta foremost rights activist and Delta Ijaw Comrade community have threatened to challenge the bill proposed by Burutu legislative arm to prohibit night burial in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state, adding that the bill is animalistic and inimical as it was meant to invade Ijaw tradition.

The Ijaw rights groups said Burutu Local Government Council lawmakers lacked power to abolish Ijaw tradition, noting that issues of Ijaw nation can't be determined by few lawmakers in Burutu Local Government Area as Ijaw cuts across nine states of the federation.

Speaking to newsmen in Warri, Comrade Ozobo described the bill as frivolous, mischievous, baseless and barbaric, stressing that it was promoted by mediocre and kindergarten lawmakers who lack mentorship on lawmaking.

The Ijaw born foremost activist said the Bill when passed to law will enfreeze the rights of the Ijaw people, maintaining that night funeral is a long standing tradition of the Ijaw people and can't be overrided by a mere local legislation.

Acccording to the activist, there has not been any security challenge in night funerals in Ijaw nation to have intervene by some local busy body lawmakers who do not understand the business of lawmaking.

Ozobo said the Bill is needlessly as night funeral is done in discretion of people in Ijaw land, noting that no one is under any obligation to conduct night funeral which to have been prompted legislation.

"It is insanity for anyone to think that stopping night burial will serve as a solution to increase level of promiscuity and immorality in the society", Ozobo averred.

He reiterated: "those who want night burial and others who want day burial should be at liberty to do so, as it is experienced in Ijaw land today".

The Comrade leader said that it's only in Banana republic that someone will think of using legislation to abolish a tradition, asserting that Burutu lawmakers should retrace their steps.

Ozobo further said that night funeral being a tradition across Ijaw land in nine states of the Nigeria federation can be upturned by any local legislation by lawmakers in a single local government area in Delta state.

He advised the Burutu Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Angele Godknows who also cherish night funeral not to assent to the bill as it remained frivolous and mischievous, stressing that they will rubbish the bill in court.

Even those with staggering records of criminality and theft are seeking aids from higher authorities in order to get into power in Delta State come 2023.

For example, Chief David Edevbie, one aspirant with damning records of embezzling state and national funds, falsification of local government of origin and other atrocities against the people of Delta who still clamours for the Governorship Seat.

Edevbie's cohort, former governor, Chief James Ibori in his bid to aid his partner in his aspiration, visited the political living-ancestor, Obasanjo and pleaded that Obasanjo coerces Gov. Okowa to accept Edevbie as his successor.

This was a pathetic attempt at gaining goodwill in the heart of the former President as the stench of their past crimes still wafts wherever they thread. Meeting with Okowa over the Ibori/Edevbie issue, Obasanjo recognized Edevbie for the criminal and chronic financial rapist of the State that he is.

Apparently, the desperate appeal Ibori made is a failed attempt as every literate citizen is aware of the actions that led to Edevbie being barred from setting foot in London, and they are aware that part of some repatriated loot was traced to Edevbie.

Information from a credible source also revealed that Ibori, brought about the infamous Warri crisis that drove all investors from the state, thereby depleting the State's economy.

Whilst Ibori made amunitions available for Itsekiri's to kill Ijaws, he was also busy looting the state with the express approval from Edevbie who was the commissioner of finance and James Manager as the commissioner of works and transportation.

Edevbie and Ibori must not plunge this state into another economic darkness again.

Concerning the accurate local government of origin of Edevbie which is still being debated, an independent investigation  necessitated a disclosure.

As the dubious politician from Isoko Delta South Senatorial District who appropriated and covered up N40 billion of Delta State funds that was stolen. After Ibori left office as governor in 2007 Edevbie is now claiming to be an Urhobo man, Deltans are not fools.

Edevbie has peddled this  deceitful claim while in reality, he is paternally full blooded Isoko Man from Owehlogbo, Isoko North Local government area of Delta State.

Knowing that it was the turn of Delta central, Ughelli South to Produce the Delta State Governor 2023, according to a ‘gentleman’ agreement under the People’s Democratic Party PDP, he despirately worked against the arrangements even contested the primaries against Governor Okowa in 2015, using the money he stole as Delta State as commissioner of finance under Former Governor James Ibori.

At that time he claimed to be an Isoko-man. 2023 this same David Edevbie is now claiming to be an Urhobo man from Afiesere, Ughelli North, Delta State where he forcefully buried his late father, that has generated unending disputes and generational abnormalities in their families.

It is pitiable that such man who has excused all moral sense of reasoning, after stealing billions from the state, schemes to govern the people by putting in another dubious conduct of falsifying his local government of origin.

His feeble attempt to vilify the political prowess and leadership charisma of the Urhobo people will not be tolerable. No politician in Delta State would toe the line of such insult on Urhobo people.

Unusual As 62-Year-Old Man Marries 55-year-Old Virgin in Osun

A 62-year-old bachelor, Isaac Bakare, ties the knot with a 55-year-old spinster, Esther Bamiloye, who is still a virgin in Osun State.

The couple who were celebrated by many on their wedding day revealed that indeed, God answered their long-time prayer by bringing them together.

When asked about the history of their relationships, the bride said, “The devil had plans to stop me from getting married. When I felt I was ready, there was no man coming for me. I kept waiting on God for a miracle till I reached 55-years.

“I never dated anyone till I got married. Initially, I thought the problem was from my former church and I left, but I give glory to God. He did it for me in my new church and all the barriers were removed”.

Narrating the story of how the couples met, and what came about the attraction, Esther stated: “God had been revealing his picture and personality to me and speaking to me about him through some people for over three years.

“Exactly on the day it reached three years that I first got the revelation, God sent the message again through a prophet. The description of his looks, where he would come from and others matched perfectly when I set my eyes on him at Ilesa.

“My church is in Osogbo, but we had an event in Ilesa where I met the man destined for me.

“God even revealed our wedding date, which was October 29, 2021. The period between our meeting and wedding was really short. I give God all the glory for remembering me after all these years," the bride narrated.

Delta2023: Ibori Allegedly Begs Power Brokers to Appeal to Okowa to Accept his Candidate Edevbie

Delta2023: Ibori Allegedly Begs Power Brokers to Appeal to Okowa to Accept his Candidate Edevbie

Information reaching our news desk is indicative that former Governor James Onanefe Ibori of Delta state is reportedly making frantic efforts to woo the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, to anoint his political godson, Olorogun David Edevbie, for the 2023 guber race in Delta state.

Available reports revealed that Governor Okowa is not favourable disposed to Edevbie as possible successor for the office of the governor. This is even as recent reports revealed that the governor has decided to turn to Urhobo ethnic nationality to take over the office in 2023.

Edevbie, a former finance commissioner in Okowa’s first term and a chief of staff in the governor’s second term was axed from office by the governor following his ambition to run for office of the governor in 2023. Sources close to powers have also hinted that the DC-23, a lobby group of a select Urhobo people is surreptitiously moving to anoint Edevbie as its utmost objective.

Okowa’s perceived unwillingness to go the way of Edevbie may not be unconnected with the 2014 PDP primaries where David Edevbie slugged it out with him and clinched second position in the primary election that produced Okowa as PDP candidate.

The action of Edevbie was contrary to the PDP zoning arrangement where it was clearly the turn of Delta North to produce the governor. It was not expected that Edevbie should join the race with the governor. Edevbie’s entrance into the race, despite the zoning arrangement is reportedly displeasing to the governor.

In the 2023 general elections, Ibori is believed to have pitched his tent with Edevbie, on whose auspices the DC-23 is allegedly lobbying for Urhobo governor, though covertly working for Edevbie.

Within the last few days, Ibori is reported to have made moves to speak to powerful figures in the country to help appeal to the conscience of Okowa to anoint Edevbie for the 2023 governorship race.

One of the names, sources mentioned, is former President Olusegun Obasanjo who was civilian president from 1999 to 2007. According to our source, Ibori reportedly met with Obasanjo in Lagos to help talk to Okowa to look the way of Edevbie for the 2023 race.

While Ibori is making underground moves, the people of Delta are of the opinion that the era of godfathers in the state must come to a close. Okowa’s emergence did not come through godfathers.

Deltans are of the opinion that Ibori should give way to allow people of independent minds, selected by the majority take over the rein of power.

2023: PDP Will Not Impose Candidates_ SEN. AYU

2023: PDP Will Not Impose Candidates_ SEN. AYU

..... As Ortom backs him, says imposition is undemocratic

National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu says the party under his leadership will not give room for imposition of candidates.

Ayu spoke just as the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom aligned with the National Chairman, insisting that imposition of candidates is undemocratic and will not augur well for the party in 2023.

Senator Ayu spoke Saturday,11th December, 2021 at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi while addressing stakeholders of the PDP during his first visit to the state as National Chairman of the PDP.

He stated that under his tenure, whoever emerges as candidate for any elective position will be protected, pointing out that he has a competent team that has been carefully elected for the enormous task ahead.

The former Senate President charged party faithful to go back to their wards and work hard to ensure victory for the PDP in all elections in 2023, stressing that the party must rescue Nigeria from APC's misrule.

The National Chairman acknowledged the support shown him before and after his emergence by Governor Ortom, Senator David Mark and other critical stakeholders, saying it's an indication of a united Benue.

He said with the commitment shown by leaders who stood behind him for his election, it is a clear indication that Benue can win anytime but "when we fight against each other, victory will elude us."

Senator Ayu pledged the commitment of the National Working Committee of the PDP towards rescuing and rebuilding Nigeria, stressing that the party is poised to reclaim power at the centre in 2023.

Governor Samuel Ortom in a remark, corroborated Ayu's position against imposition of candidates, saying, transparency, justice and equity should be allowed to play out, even as he encouraged consensus arrangement.

The Governor advised the NWC of the PDP to work as a team in order to ensure victory for the party at all levels in 2023, saying the APC's failure is an opportunity for the PDP to reclaim their position and rebuild Nigeria.

While thanking Senator David Mark and other Northern leaders for standing firm to ensure the emergence of Ayu, Governor Ortom announced that the PDP in Benue will be receiving other ranking politicians into its fold in the days ahead.

Former Senate President, Senator David Mark acknowledged the degree of responsibility the nation has placed on the PDP, saying the party has no excuse but to succeed.

He prayed God to grant Ayu the wisdom and courage to lead the party in the right direction, saying Benue people will reciprocate the gesture by standing firmly behind him.

Senator Ayu and other members of the NWC of the PDP were later decorated in the Benue unity attires by Governor Samuel Ortom and other top government officials.

Dowen College: Falana Asks Police to Invite Blogger, Kemi Olunloyo Over 'Reckless' Comment On Sylvester's Death

Dowen College: Falana Asks Police to Invite Blogger, Kemi Olunloyo Over 'Reckless' Comment On Sylvester's Death

A human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has petitioned the deputy commissioner, Lagos police command to invite controversial blogger, Kemi Olunloyo over a comment she made regarding the death of 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni Jnr.

Sylvester's case generated public outrage some weeks ago when one of his relations lamented his death on the microblogging platform, Twitter.

He alleged that the young boy was tortured to death at Dowen College over his refusal to join a cult.

News of Sylvester's death has continued to attract the outrage of Nigerians as many have asked the authorities to bring the culprits to justice.

No fewer than five persons have been grilled by operatives of the Lagos State police command in connection to the death of the deceased.

However, Olunloyo, in her reaction to the events, claimed that the deceased drank engine oil as part of the cult initiation process, adding that Oromoni was not bullied.

#Justiceforsylvester Sylvester Oromoni̢۪s death involved HAZING he allegedly participated in. It is important for Nigerians to know that hazing is a crime in many countries but NOT in Nigeria. The bulk of the investigation should focus on adult supervision when this was going on.

— Journalist Dr Kemi Olunloyo📡 (@KemiOlunloyo) December 11, 2021

Olunloyo via an audiotape reiterated that the late Sylvester Oromoni who died under controversial circumstances at Dowen College willingly wanted to join the boy’s gang and drank engine oil.

Her comment sparked angry reactions from Nigerians who condemned her for making such a comment against the deceased who cannot defend himself.

Meanwhile, Falana, in the petition signed by Taiwo Olawanle, a lawyer in Falana & Falana Chambers firm, called for an investigation into the comment made by Olunloyo.

The human rights lawyer said Olunloyo’s comment has exacerbated the pains of the deceased’s parents and family.

Falana asked the police to invite Olunloyo to explain her “false information” and be charged to court if she cannot substantiate the comment.

The petition reads, “Although the students and staff of the college suspected to have played a role in the brutal murder of Sylvester Oromoni have made useful statements to the police, one Ms Kemi Olunloyo has just introduced another twist to the incident.

“According to a false statement credited to her, Ms Olunloyo claimed that Sylvester Oromoni wanted to join the cult, he agreed to be beaten and drank engine oil as part of the initiation process.

“Ms Olunloyo recorded her false statement and has been circulating the same on social media in a wicked manner with the sole purpose of diverting attention from the ongoing investigation by the police.

“Apart from attempting to destroy the name of Sylvester Oromoni, Ms Olunloyo has exacerbated the tragedy of his parents, family members and friends without any justification whatsoever.

“Even though the reckless statement is a figment of the imagination of Ms Olunloyo, we are of the strong view that she ought to assist the police in the ongoing investigation into the cause of the death of Sylvester Oromoni.

“We are therefore compelled to request the police to investigate the allegation of false information being circulated by Ms Olunloyo on the gruesome circumstances surrounding the death of Sylvester Oromoni.

“If she cannot substantiate her reckless allegation, Ms Olunloyo ought to be charged with false information in the Magistrate Court in Lagos State,” the statement adds.

Delta 2023: Okowa Makes Uturn, Gives Condition For Urhobo to Produce Governor

Delta 2023: Okowa Makes Uturn, Gives Condition For Urhobo to Produce Governor

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has reneged on his earlier decision to pick his successor from the Ijaws ethnic nationality of Delta south senatorial district.

The earlier decision pitched him against power blocs in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta Central senatorial district of the state.

Sources close to the governor, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed to THEWILL that the governor “has finally made up his mind to pick his successor from the Urhobo ethnic group, after a long careful thought”.

According to two impeccable sources, Okowa, who was irked by the move by some among the Urhobos to jettison the gentleman agreement in the state during the governorship poll in 2015, decided to respect the unwritten power-sharing agreement within the PDP in the state but with a caveat.

“He would not support any aspirant in the race that played a key role in the botched 2015 primary coup,” one of the sources said.

All three zones have each produced a governor under the zoning formula started at the beginning of this republic, with Chief James Ibori (Central), his successor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan (South), and the incumbent, Okowa, who hails from the North.

THEWILL recalls that the power bloc, which had the ears of Uduaghan, had tried unsuccessfully to circumvent the power-sharing agreement in 2015 by backing a former commissioner in the state, David Edevbie, from the Urhobo tribe, to clinch the party’s governorship primary.

In retaliation, after his reelection in 2019, Okowa and his close allies have been covertly encouraging aspirants from the Ijaw to enter the governorship race in 2023 to the discomfort of Ibori and other interests in Delta Central.

The move gave politicians like Senator James Manager and the deputy governor, Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, who are both Ijaws, the spark to seek the governorship ticket.

With his latest decision to support the zoning agreement, the governor, according to our sources, is ready for the battle to determine who succeeds him in 2023. (THEWILL)

Mulade tackles IOCs, FG to Remediate Polluted Niger Delta Environment

Mulade tackles IOCs, FG to Remediate Polluted Niger Delta Environment

A prominet Niger Delta  environmentalist, Chief Sheriff Mulade has faulted the pollution and degradation of the Niger Delta environment through gas flaring and other oil activities in the region, and stressed the need for the immediate remediation of the environment.

Comrade Mulade who is the Chief Executive Officer of Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, a foremost environmental sustainability advocating organisation, noted that the Niger Delta Region has contributed immensely to the economy and wealth of the Nation as a result of the enormous oil production activities in the region.

He, however, lamented that despite the high oil production in states such as Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa and Cross Rivers, oil pollution and reduced life span are the prices that the oil rich region has to pay for feeding the nation.

Chief Mulade who is also the Ibe-Seremowei of ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West LGA of Delta State, noted that the Nigerian economy is heavily dependent on the oil sector, accounting for about 95% of the export earnings, and 40% of government revenue, according to the International Monetary Fund, IMF. He added that the revenue generated from the Niger Delta is used practically to run the country's economy.

He said "it is no more news that the exploration and exploitation activities of oil companies in the region have degraded and devastated the environment at an alarming rate, so much so that life expectancy in the Niger Deltan Region has been reduced due to health hazards from the polluted environment."

He noted further that "oil pollution has destroyed the environment and the traditional occupation of the people, leading to high rates of poverty unemployment, criminality and violence in the Niger Delta Region." He said "this morbid situation has been worsened by the poor environmental practices of the IOCs, (international oil companies) and the failure of Government Agencies to hold them accountable."

The environmentalist asserted that the people have resorted to self help by engaging in pipeline vandalism, illegal refining of crude oil, illegal oil bunkering, destruction of forests, militancy and other forms of violence as a result of perennial environmental pollution and degradation. He then proffered solution to the the sad violation of the region by stressing that the oil multinationals and the Federal Government must interface and make aggressive efforts to increase the standard of environmental practices by the oil companies in the region."

He, however, warned the IOCs to adhere strictly to environmental sustainability practices and equally urged the locals in the region to stop all acts of violence and vandalism that can lead to the continues pollution of the environment, adding that the Niger Delta is their economic base that must be protected at all times.

Augoye speaks on ‘Delta Beyond 2023’, consolidation of Okowa’s successes

Augoye speaks on ‘Delta Beyond 2023’, consolidation of Okowa’s successes

A foremost aspirant in the 2023 governorship race in Delta State, Chief James Augoye has said that the next administration in the state come 2023 should not only consolidate on the successes of the administration of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa but, should be able to transcend them, if not in all the sub-sectors.

Augoye, a two-time Commissioner for Works stated this in a paper titled “Delta Beyond 2023” at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Delta Broadcasting Service, Warri Chapel lectures and awards held at Casa De Pedro Annex Hotel Hall, Effurun in Delta State,

Augoye, whose paper was presented by his media aide, Mr Obaro Egagifo said, “It would be a monumental setback for a new administration to ruin the legacy on the ground through poor policy thrust and administrative ineptitude of the state government.

Mr Obaro Egagifo, who presented Chief James Augoye’s paper at the NUJ DBS Warri Lectures/Awards ceremony
“Great empires in history have fallen to unfortunate retrogressions as a result of the poor planning and execution of the policy direction of such empires.

“Without casting aspersions on his predecessors, Governor Okowa has positively transformed the socioeconomic, political and cultural essences of the state beyond our expectations within the past six years of his administration in the state with yet a stronger vision of leaving a lasting legacy in 2023 when he would have completed his second term in office as the state governor.

“It is not expected to start doing a sectoral analysis of his monumental developmental efforts today, but I am particularly happy to be part of his success story as a two-time Commissioner for Works, a sector that endeared him so much to Deltans through massive construction and rehabilitation of roads and bridges, linking the various communities, including the riverine areas, in the state.

“It was for that he was given the sobriquet, “The Road Master”. That sector is an index of his developmental milestones in all the sub-sectors of the state economy.”

Dwelling on key areas such as industrialisation, tourism, security of lives and property and health, which should be given priority attention by the next administration in the state, Augoye emphasised that: “What must not be encouraged is wasteful spending on any project that would not benefit the people.

“Such unfortunate misplaced priority would not only drawback the hand of the clock of development in the state, but would definitely estrange those in governance to the governed; it would make the state government forfeit the trust and confidence of the people and could easily lead to the withdrawal of their loyalty and support.

“And we all should know the danger inherent in such a situation of a gap between Government and the people. Therefore, the policy thrust of the state government should continue to reflect the aspirations and expectations of the people at all times.”

In conclusion, the Okpe born politician posited that: “Governance is not a one-way traffic; it is a two-way matrix between the government and the governed. A greater Delta State beyond 2023 is achievable when there are constant interfaces between the two divides in governance.

“There is always the need to be accountable and responsive on the part of the government while the people should reciprocate the good intention of the government towards them by carrying out their civic responsibilities in a committed disposition towards the advancement of the state. This I hope we would all witness in Delta beyond 2023.”

Ned Nwoko gives reason for divorcing Moroccan wife

Ned Nwoko gives reason for divorcing Moroccan wife

Nigerian billionaire lawyer and politician, Prince Ned Nwoko says he broke up with his Moroccan wife, Laila, following her ‘indecent conduct’.

Recall that Laila in October in an Instagram post announced that her marriage with Nwoko has ended.

However, the Delta born former federal lawmaker and philanthropist in a statement shared on his Instagram page by his media team said, “The truth is that the marriage degenerated to irreconcilable differences rooted in indecent conduct on the part of Laila which started whilst she was on holiday in London.”

Nwoko in the statement dismissed insinuations linking his collapsed marriage with Laila to the use of a local aphrodisiac known as ‘Kayamata’, sold by Jaruma.

“We note with a sense of responsibility that prince Ned Nwoko has nothing whatsoever to do with Jaruma products in relation to his cordial relationship with his actress wife, Regina Daniels.

“Ned Nwoko Media Directorate wishes to reiterate that himself and the entire family has no connection with Jaruma products contrary to false narratives even as he bears no blame on the widely reported divorce issue with Laila,” the statement stressed.

Big Story: Down College, FG vows to bring perpetrators to book, Condoles with Oromoni's family on son's death

Big Story: Down College, FG vows to bring perpetrators to book, Condoles with Oromoni's family on son's death

President Muhammadu Buhari as assured that no one involved in the alleged killing of Dowen College’s student, Sylvester Oromoni Jr would be spared.

In a statement issued on Wednesday evening by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, the president condemned the incident that led to the death of the 12-year-old schoolboy.

Recall that Sylvester Oromoni had prior to his death, alleged that five senior students of the Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos State, had bullied him for refusing to be initiated into a cult group.

The incident which led to the death of the young boy had triggered a reaction from several Nigerians who continued to demand justice for the late schoolboy.

The Lagos State government had launched an investigation into the incident to unravel the controversy surrounding the death.

According to Garba, Buhari vowed that the incident would be thoroughly investigated, stressing that those found guilty, would be punished as a deterrent for others.

He said, “I share the anger and grief up and down the country following this incident. On behalf of my family and I, and the government of the federation, I convey our heartfelt condolences to the Oromoni family, the government and the people of Lagos State and give the firm assurance that this incident will be thoroughly investigated and the appropriate punishment meted out to all those who are culpable.”

The President urged the Police to continue the ongoing investigation until they get to the root of the matter for the law to take its course, assuring that justice will be done, no matter who is involved, the statement added.

Reps Order lGP to take over Sylvester Oromoni Death Investigation

Reps Order lGP to take over Sylvester Oromoni Death Investigation

The house of representatives has asked Usman Baba, inspector-general of police, to take over the probe of Sylvester Oromoni’s death.

The lower legislative chamber also directed the federal ministry of education to set up guidelines for the operation of boarding schools across the country.

Unyime Idem, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker from Akwa Ibom, moved a motion on the issue on Tuesday.

In recent months, there have been cases of molestation of students, especially in boarding schools.

The latest incident involved Oromoni, who was allegedly beaten and fed a liquid chemical by his seniors for refusing to join a cult group.

Speaking on the floor of the house, Idem said: “Some Nigerians on the social space have been voicing out their bitter experiences with the boarding school system.

“Social organisations have attacked the ministry of women affairs and the ministry of education over their silence and complexity on the several incidences of killings and abnormal behaviours in public schools across the country.

“The federal government should without delay launch a national campaign, the campaign should include advocacy, public sensitisation and social mobilisation, as it will take the joint effort of government, school management and parents to curb ugly happening in our schools.”

Contributing to the motion, Babajide Obanikoro, a lawmaker from Lagos, said the students who allegedly molested Oromoni should be placed on a no-flight list.

“In this particular matter, there are five students involved. Their names should be placed on the no-flight list and that the school, as shut down by the Lagos government, should remain shut until the investigations are over and the school is cleared of all these allegations,” he said.

Also speaking, Victor Akinjo from Ondo, said the development is a “huge embarrassment,” adding that schools have been made a breeding ground of cultism.

“It is the responsibility of the regulators to do proper oversight, to do what is right and save Nigeria from this embarrassment. It is a huge embarrassment for those schools to be converted to a cultists medium,” he said.

The motion was adopted after it was put to a voice vote by Idris Wase, deputy speaker of the house.

The house subsequently mandated its committees on education, youth, women affairs and social development, safety and standards to follow up with the investigation.

Why l Withdraw from Delta 2023 Guber Race _ Mulade

Why l Withdraw from Delta 2023 Guber Race _ Mulade

A frontline governorship aspirant from the Ijaw extraction, Comrade Chief Mulade Sheriff has withdrawn from the Delta State 2023 guber race.

Chief Mulade announced his withdrawal in a Press Statement signed by him personally, which he dedicated  to his late mother, Madam Ebikeseiye Christiana Mulade (Nee Timiyan) who died on the 27th October, 2021.

The renowned peace and environment activist, and CEO/Coordinator of Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, a notable non-governmental organization (NGO) was widely accepted as a governorship aspirant by Deltans, at home and in the diaspora, due to his doggedness in pushing for good governance, sustainable development, environmental justice and respect for human rights.

He described his withdrawal from the 2023 governorship race as a great sacrifice he had to make to honour his late mother. Chief Mulade said his decision to shelf his governorship ambition was predicated on two reasons - first is to avail the family ample time and opportunity to mourn his late mother in quietness while reflecting on the sterling qualities and legacies that she left behind; and second reason was the fact that, as the first child and now head of the family, he needed to focus more on maintaining the unity of the family that his late mother left behind, as well as to enable him redirect his energy to engage government and policy makers on the need to critically address the issues of pollution and under-development in the Niger Delta Region, especially because his mother died of Sarcoma Cancer caused by environmental pollution.

The environmentalist promised to further engage stakeholders and advocate for a cleaner, healthier and sustainable environment, as well as justice for the Niger Delta host communities.

On behalf of his siblings, Comrade Mulade Sheriff promised that he would continue to celebrate his late mother who lived a life full of commendable qualities,  promising to ensure that same virtues are replicated and instilled in their children, as well as  generations yet unborn.

While bidding his late mother farewell, Chief Mulade, who is the Ibe-Sorimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West LGA of Delta State, appreciated all his political advisers and supporters for their understanding over the painful personal decision to withdraw from the race and promised to always work with them for a better Delta State and Nigeria at large.
