INC to Engage ljaw Publishers, as Engr. Ezonebi calls for United, Progressive ljaw Nation


The leadership of Ijaw National Congress (INC), the apex body of ljaw ethnic nationality, has called on ljaw media practitioners, especially the publishers to work in hand with the current Prof. Benjamin Okaba led executive in order to propagate the activities and programmes of the body to the public.


The call was made during the weekend at a meeting between the lNC Publicity Secretary, Engr. Oyakemeagbegha Ezonebi and publishers of various media houses owned by ljaw sons in Warri, where the lNC Spokesman emphasis on the need to engaged our own media organizations so as to adequately report our story to the general populace.


In his remark, Engr. Ezonebi commended the efforts of ljaw media practitioners in given adequate coverage to the just concluded 2021 ljaw National Congress election held in April at ljaw House, Yenagoa without biased. He said ljaw nation had created a record by conducting the first ever transparent, free and fair election through e-voting system  in Nigeria. And it is your timely, accurate, fair and objective reportage that bring the system to the notice of the public all over the world through your various mediums in the social media online.


" We noticed the power of your mediums in which you used to disseminate information to the masses without biased. Nobody from outside can tell your story more than you. Hence, we thought it wise to work in hand with you people so as to enable our administration succeed.


 In the nutshell, my office as the Publicity Secretary of congress has deem it fit to collaborate with you so as to enable me function effectively and deliver on my campaign mandate to ljaw nation. Let's work together for a more united, peaceful and progressive ljaw nation in particular, Niger Delta region, and Nigeria at large, Engr. Ezonebi stated. "


In their various reactions, Mr. Cletus Opukeme of Daily Watch Newspaper, Amb. Princewil Binebai of the Liberator Newspaper, Comrade Oyinbi Onduku of Niger Delta Mirror, Comrade. Kelly Gilor of ljaw Voice, Comrade Basil Ujobolo of Kpooka Media lnternational, Freeborn Abraye of Coastal Times, Tare Magbei of Daily Report Nigeria thanked and appreciated the Spokesman of INC for recognising and identifying with them, stressing that they will do anything under their capacity to always promote and protect the interest of ljaw nation at any given time when called upon.


However, they called on Prof. Okaba led Presidency of congress to work as a team with all his executive members, and always stand tall to defend and protect the interest of ljaw people. The statement further adds that lNC should liaise with the Niger Delta interventionist agencies, especially the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Presidential Amnesty Office and NDDC to carry along ljaw media practitioners (publishers) in the areas of engagement, training, scholarship to study, financial support as well as employment opportunities in order to enable them actualized their dreams.
