Warri____ A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and former Chairman Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, Dr. Braduce Amakazi Angozi has congratulated His Excellency, Senator. Douye Diri on the occasion of the successful sworn-In as the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State.

Dr. Angozi further called on all Bayelsans to join hands with Sen. Diri administration so as to enable him attract peace and sustainable infrastructural development to the glory of all land.

In a press statement released on Saturday 15th February at Warri, Dr. Angozi stated that the newly sworn-ln governor of Bayelsa state has all it takes to move Bayelsa to the next level in terms of infrastructural development as well as human capital empowerment.

According to Dr. Angozi said; " I want to say that Sen. Diri is a technocrat who has served ljaw nation well in INC before coming into circular politics. His wealth of experience as former commissioner, House of Reps member as well as a senator is a plus to perform creditably well as governor of Bayelsa state. My appeal to all Bayelsans, be it opposition parties and otherwise is to give maximum support to the new governor so as to enable him deliver the dividends of Democracy for all Bayelsans, Dr. Angozi stated."

Abuja____ A foremost Niger Delta based Non Governmental Organisation, the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ has congratulated His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri and his Deputy His Excellency, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpor for their successful Swearing in as Governor and Deputy of one of the Niger Delta finest oil and gas producing States.

The National Coordinator of the center, Comrade Mulade Sheriff who issued the statement in Abuja congratulated and charged them to focus on unity, infrastructural and human capital development of the state.

According  to him;  " It is worthy of note that Bayelsa is in dire need of development, therefore the new Governor should adopt a pragmatic approach to create a conducive environment for all residents and attract investors into the state to Speed up development in the oil-rich state".

Meanwhile, Comrade Mulade Sheriff re-emphasize and call on Governor Douye Diri to strongly focus on building a sustainable SECURITY that will protect lives and properties of Bayelsians and investors as a priority to enable his administration attract the desired development to the State.

Stop Mobilizing Community Leaders To lnfluence Undue Transfer, Delta SUBEB Boss Ogwu Cautions Teachers, Calls For Protection Of Govt School Properties

Asaba____ The Excutive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Sunny Ogwu has warned Head teachers, teaching and non teaching staff  against mobilizing community leaders to influence their postings and transfers, saying that such practice would no longer be tolerated by the Board.

The SUBEB boss gave the warning at Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Council in continuation of the Board's  town hall  meeting with Head teachers in public Primary Schools in the State.

The Chairman who was represented by Member representing Delta South Senatorial District in the Board, Mr. Paul Kurugbe frowned at some staff who were at the habit of mobilizing community leaders to mount undue pressure on Local Education Authority Secretaries to influence their transfers.

He said such habits including rejecting postings were inimical to the service.

While charging Headteachers and other staff  particularly those heading Schools at the various villages to embark on school drive by encouraging parents to enrol their wards in school and take advantage of the free education programme of the Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa's administration, assured them of the state government's strong commitment to promoting quality basic education in the State .

Ogwu also enjoined the headteachers to engage community leaders and Parent Teacher Association to assist in protecting school properties against destruction.

On the School Based Management Committee (SBMC) model employed by the Universal Basic Education Commission in conjunction with the State Universal Basic Education Board to run and manage some schools in the State, the SUBEB Chairman urged headteachers and Management Committees of benefitting schools to put money released to them for execution of projects into judicious use.

He said to enhance the capacity of teachers to meet up with modern trend of impacting knowledge, the Board has concluded plans to begin another batch of cluster trainings for teachers and implored participants to take  the training seriously.

While warning against illegal collection of fees, extortion and unprofessional conducts,  Ogwu told the Headteachers to teach morals and values at assembly grounds  and be of good examples to staff and pupils.

The Chairman's representative also met with Headteachers in Isoko North Local Government where he reminded the teachers that education was the mother of all profession even as he charged the Quality Assurance Department of the Local Education Authority to step up its monitoring exercise.

The Chairman emphasized the need to bring back seriousness into sporting activities in primary schools in order to deepen sport development in the state by discovering sporting talents when they are young.

Earlier, the Education Secretary, Isoko South, Mr Edegbo Sammy in his welcome address while congratulating the Chairman and members of the Board for their appointments, commended the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who have stood by his word to better the standard of education in the state.

He said Isoko south has benefitted immensely from the facelift of public primary schools in the state and appealed for the establishment of ICT centre in Isoko Central School, Oleh.

Benin_____ The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the governor of Delta State on security, Comrade Ezekiel Daniel  has condoled with his Personal Assistant (PA), Comr. Ebiwana Sam on the sudden demise and passage to eternal glory of his mother, late Mrs. Ruth Ebiwana two days ago in Benin.

Comrade Ezekiel sympathized with the bereaved on Wednesday 12th February, 2020 at Ikoro Community, the headquarters of Olodiama Kingdom in Ovia South-East Local Government Area of Edo State. Speaking during the condolence visit, he noted that late. Mrs. Ruth Ebiwana lived a well fulfilled life, leaving behind good legacies that worths emulation in the society.

He said mama was a devoted Christian and down to earth woman that affected so many lives positively while on earth. He charged Sam to take solace in the word of God, saying mama is sleeping in the Lord and not dead, Comrade Ezekiel stated.

It would be recalled that late Mrs. Ruth Ebiwana passed on Monday 10th February at Benin City, after a brief illness. Her remains would be finally lay to rest in April 2020 at lkoro community, Edo State.

Warri_____ The joy of pupils and students of Oporoza, Okerenkoko, Egwa and Jones Creek communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State knows no bound yesterday as Okerenkoko Federated Welders/Fitters Association (OWFA) donates thousands of learning materials worths millions of naira for them.

The surprise event took place on Monday when the Okerenkoko Federated Welders/Fitters Association Executives led by the Coordinating Chairman, Engr. Odu Richmond tour round the above mentioned schools to distribute the items including; 80/60leave exercise notebooks, mathematical sets as well as diaries for both students, teachers, principals and headmasters of the various benefiting schools.

Speaking during presentation of the items, the Coordinating Chairman, Engr. Odu Richmond who also doubles as the Chairman of Akpata Ekpemu Welders and Fitters, said the reason for the gesture is to support and encourage pupils and students in the riverine communities academically. He noted that the economy of Nigeria is so bad that most parents hardly provide learning materials for their children.

" This is a little way of the Association in contributing their quota to encourage and support serious minded students in Gbaramatu Kingdom. This is just the beginning, more good things are coming for our students. I want to urged the benefiting pupils and students to make judicious use of the items presented to them. Take your academic studies seriously because you are the leaders of this great country Nigeria tomorrow, he stated.

In her response, a teacher in Okerenkoko Secondary School, Mrs. Uttoh Endurance Ewo,  on behalf of the Principal thank and appreciated the benevolence kind gesture of Okerenkoko Federated Welders/Fitters Association for donating such huge learning materials for the school. She further pray God to bless the Association financially so that they can do more and further extends the kind gesture to accommodate more schools in Gbaramatu Kingdom, the statement adds.

Warri____ All is now set for the 2020 edition of the popular Obotebe Awouzi-owu festival in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, as the day for the magnificent cultural display and exhibition draws closer.

According to our source confirmed that Ijaw high life music maestros, Junior King Alfred Ezon-ebi and the Ogugboun of Umbi Kingdom, Minister Ezonfade Bouy will thrill guests at the event with scintillating tunes  amidst other side attractions.

Junior King, the Wabu crooner will be live on stage on Saturday, 15th February in the aftermath of the Awouziowu masquerade display. While Minister Ezonfade will take the stage on Sunday February 16th, to draw the curtain close of the festival.

A plethora of dignitaries consisting of the who-is-who in Burutu Local Government Area and beyond would be led by the paramount ruler of Obotebe Kingdom, HRM. Emmanuel Warewinini Arikawei, Ogisi 1, is billed for Royal Father of the Day.

The development driven Traditional Ruler would be accompanied by the Chief Host of the event, Double Chief. Tunde Smooth, the Bulouwei of Obotebe Kingdom and Chief. Ebime-ere Daki Seibi, the Awoukere-ere of Obotebe Kingdom as Mother of the Day.

The statement further adds that, General Dennis Gawei will be the Chairman of the occasion while Mrs. Felicia Akasa will be the Chairlady during the event.

Mr. Austin Erekefe Owei,  president of Okoso-otu Owubou disclosed that series of activities have been lined out as side attractions during and after the Awouziowu masquerade display.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kenebra Godspower,  President of Obotebe Youths revealed that the body have concluded plans to set the ball rolling as DJ Dibala and company will will kick start the event on Friday February 14th, the eve of the Awouziowu festival, courtesy of the youth executives of Obotebe kingdom.
