Why Oil Companies Are Leaving Nigeria-Kyari

Why Oil Companies Are Leaving Nigeria-Kyari

International oil companies are leaving Nigeria and shifting their portfolios to where they can add value to the journey towards carbon net-zero commitment, the group managing director, Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mele Kyari, has said.

Mr Kyari said this in a speech at the 2022 Nigerian International Energy Summit (NIES2022) in Abuja on Monday.

Last year, Royal Dutch Shell announced its plan to offload onshore Nigerian oil assets in a bid to move to cleaner energy.

It said it was discussing with the federal government to sell its onshore oil assets in the country.

Also, Seplat Energy last week announced it has entered into a contract with Exxon Mobil, to buy Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited’s entire oil assets in Nigeria. That includes all of Exxon’s entire shallow water assets in the Niger Delta.

“Companies are divesting. They are leaving our country. That is the best way to put it,” Mr Kyari said.

“They are not leaving because opportunities are not here but because companies are shifting their portfolios where they can add value and not just that, but where they can also add to the journey towards carbon net-zero commitment.”

He said that transition must have sanity, and there must be justice in the energy transition.

He said the country must have “the most friendly fuel” in place in the next five to 10 years, while building its ability to use renewables.

Nigeria is getting “there” sooner than we think. Niger Delta will soon become an Enugu with coal but no mining activity. Revenues will fall. Foreign loans service will become a challenge. Most civil servants, not only ASUU, will go on strike at Federal and State levels as federal allocation will deplete. Unemployment and criminality will increase. We must task our governments to think and produce contingent post-oil plans. Smell the coffee!

Just-ln: Russian businessman puts $1m bounty for Putin's head

Just-ln: Russian businessman puts $1m bounty for Putin's head

Russian investor and TV personality Alex Konanykhin is offering a $1 million bounty to anyone who captures Russian President Vladimir Putin.

A Russian investor has put a $1 million bounty on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s head, asking for Russian military officers to arrest Putin as a war criminal.

“I promise to pay $1,000,000 to the officer(s) who, complying with their constitutional duty, arrest(s) Putin as a war criminal under Russian and international laws,” said crypto investor and California-based businessman Alex Konanykhinin a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Konanykhin claimed that Putin had violated the Russian constitution by “eliminating free elections” and “murdering his opponents.”

“As an ethnic Russian and a Russia citizen, I see it as my moral duty to facilitate the denazification of Russia. I will continue my assistance to Ukraine in its heroic efforts to withstand the onslaught of Putin’s Orda,” Konanykhin said, using the Russian word for “horde.”

Konanykhin told Insider that he had put up the bounty which will come from his funds to show that the military assault on Ukraine is not being conducted in his name.

“If enough other people make similar statements, it may increase the chances of Putin getting arrested and brought to justice,” he added.

Konanykhin said has not visited Russia since 1992. When asked about whether he feared reprisal from Putin, the businessman said: “Putin is known to murder his opponents. He has millions of them now.”

According to Vice, Konanykhin was at one point worth $300 million. He is now a member of the “Circle of Money” on the television series “Unicorn Hunters”, along with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and former ‘NSync singer Lance Bass.

Konanykhin was granted political asylum in the US in 1999 but ran the risk of being deported when his status was revoked four years later. His asylum status was reinstated in 2007.

Putin’s invasion of Ukraine has prompted a backlash from Russian oligarchs and lawmakers. In a rare moment of dissent, three Russian lawmakers also spoke out this week about Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Featured Article: The Nigeria Political Market, By Enekorogha T. Godbless

Featured Article: The Nigeria Political Market, By Enekorogha T. Godbless

The Nigeria political market is one of  the most biggest and largest political market in Africa. It comes up in every four years, where all adults citizens who registered with the Market Officials are allowed to trade in the market.

The Nigeria political Market is traded across the 36 states of the country with the market officials ( INEC) overseeing all the activities of the market. It is pivotal to note that PVC is the only medium used in the transaction of good and services in the Nigeria political Market.

Unlike other markets, the Nigeria political Market is where citizens choose and select those who will be accountable and reliable to them in every four years and the chosen or selected products in the Market are responsible for providing social amenities, security and employment to improve the standard of living of lives of the people in the country.

However it is dishearten though pathetic that for several decades that citizens who trade in the Nigeria political market don't know what to buy with their PVC. Some buy product of other peoples desire they may not want, having known that the PVC is used once in every four years to demand what one wants in the Market.

There is also another category of persons I found in the Nigeria political Market those who goes  to the market neither to buy or sell but to steal and disturb those who are selecting and choosing products that will be accountable to them for the four years. However these categories of persons are most times sent by leaders to jeopardize the Market especially when they know nobody will buy from them.

I also noticed in the Nigeria political Market that most sellers used money to bribe the buyers from using their PVC to buy from other sellers of their choice. It is however pathetic that most buyers ignorantly fall for them.

There is also these set of persons that does not have PVC to select good products but blame others for selecting their choice.

The Nigeria political Market is here again and it will be traded in 2023. But what category do you fall into in the Nigeria political Market.

1. Are you among those who does not have PVC but blame others for selecting their choice ?

2. What kind of product do you want to buy in the Nigeria Political Market ?

 3. And remember you can only buy a product once in every four years in the Nigeria Political Market. Will it last you ?

4. Are you among those who buy product because others desire it ?

Brace up Nigerian Adult youths and trade wisely in the forthcoming Nigeria Political Market 2023.

Unusual As Man Marries Three Sisters (Triplets) At Once In Congo

Unusual As Man Marries Three Sisters (Triplets) At Once In Congo

A Congolese man, identified simply as Luwizo, has tied the knot with three sisters said to be triplets at once.

The 32-year-old groom said he met one of the triplets called Natalie via Facebook, chatted a while, fell in love with her, and decided to meet her in person, Afrimax English reported.

He said that after Natalie introduced him to her sisters, Nadege and Natasha, the duo soon fell in love with him too.

Wizo, as he is fondly called, said he was shocked to meet three identical women after visiting Natalie’s house to formalise their marriage.

“I was very much surprised that I almost fainted. It seems like I was dreaming!” Wizo exclaimed.

Since the triplets were so close and inseparable, they chose to marry the same man.

Asked about how they handled the situation, one of the triplets said, “When we told him he had to marry all of us, he was shocked. But because he had already fallen in love with all of us, nothing could stop our plans since we were also in love with him.

“Even though people considered it impossible for three women to share one husband, to us, sharing everything has been our life since childhood.”

Luwizo said although his parents never approved of his unpopular decision and decided to not grace his wedding, he had no regret whatsoever going forward with it.

“You have to lose something in order to gain another. In addition, one has their preferences and their own way of doing things. So I’m happy to marry the triplets no matter what others think. My parents despised my decision and that’s why they didn’t attend my wedding. But all I can say is love has no limits,” the groom surmised.

The root causes, and what you need to know about Russia, Ukraine War

The root causes, and what you need to know about Russia, Ukraine War

Francis Tayor

The tension and geopolitical strife between Russia and Ukraine assumed a terrifying dimension after Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a military operation in Ukraine on Thursday with explosions heard across the country.

Reuters reports that many countries have called for a diplomatic way out of the current crisis between the two countries, but Putin has intensified further military action.

While there had been tensions between Russia and Ukraine, a former Soviet republic, for a long time, the situation began getting out of control in early 2021.

Here are points to know about the conflict between the two countries:

1. In January last year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged US President Joe Biden to let Ukraine join NATO.

2. This angered Russia, which started sending troops near its Ukraine border for “training exercises” in spring last year and increased it during autumn.

3. Russia does not want Ukraine in NATO – and has said as much in its list of security demands which were sent to the US last December. The demands included a halt to any NATO drills near Russia’s border.

4. Ukraine is not a NATO member but it wants to be. NATO, which the United States, the arch-rival of Russia, is a part of, is the subject of heightened tension. Meanwhile, NATO too, is open to make Ukraine its member because it is considered a partner of alliance.

5. The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) was created in 1949 by the United States, Canada, and several Western European nations to provide collective security against the Soviet Union.

6. NATO is an intergovernmental military alliance whose purpose is “to guarantee the freedom and security of its members through political and military means”.

7. Ukraine’s growing links with the EU and the West has also been vehemently opposed by Putin.

8. By December last year, the US began to lament about the deployment of the Russian troops and President Biden warned of severe sanctions if Russia invaded Ukraine.

9. This is not the first time tensions between Russia and Ukraine has reached a boiling point.

10. Russia had invaded Ukraine in 2014 when rebels backed by President Putin had seized large swathes of easterrn Ukraine and have fought Ukraine’s army since then. At that time, Russia had annexed Crimea.

11. As a former Soviet republic Ukraine has deep social and cultural ties with Russia, and Russian is widely spoken there, but ever since Russia invaded in 2014 those relations have frayed.

12. Russia attacked Ukraine when its pro-Russian president was deposed in early 2014. The war in the east has since claimed more than 14,000 lives.

13. Russia and Ukraine had signed the Minsk peace accord to halt the armed conflict in east Ukraine, including the Donbas region.

14. But as the conflict has continued, Russia explained that it is sending “peacekeepers” to the region where the conflict is brewing. The West calls it a smokescreen by Moscow to occupy sovereign territory.

15. The new tension between Russia and Ukraine, which also borders the European Union, has repurcussions for the EU. And that’s why the EU, most of who are NATO signatories have joined the US in announcing sanctions, against Russian entities.

16. Ukraine, which was part of the Russian empire for centuries before becoming a Soviet republic, won independence as the USSR broke up in 1991. It moved to shed its Russian imperial legacy and forge increasingly close ties with the West.

17. A decision by Kremlin-leaning Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to reject an association agreement with the European Union in favour of closer ties with Moscow led to mass protests that saw him removed as leader in 2014.

18. Russia responded by annexing Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula and throwing its weight behind a separatist rebellion that broke out in Ukraine’s east.

19. Ukraine and the West accused Russia of sending its troops and weapons to back the rebels. Moscow denied that, saying the Russians who joined the separatists were volunteers.

20. Furthermore, Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said Ukraine’s aspirations to join NATO are a red line, and expressed concern about plans by some NATO members to set up military training centres in Ukraine. This, he has said, would give them a military foothold in the region even without Ukraine joining NATO.
