Subsidy: Kwara Civil Servants to Work 3Days Weekly, State Govt Declares

The Kwara State Government has approved a temporary palliative measure to bring some ease to workers following the removal of petrol subsidy by the Federal Government.

The State Head of Service, Mrs Susan Modupe Oluwole announced today that the State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has directed that the workdays be reduced from five days to three days per week for every worker.

Mrs Oluwole directed all Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the State to immediately work out a format indicating the alternating work days for each worker under them.
The Head of Service however, warned the workers not to abuse the magnanimity of the Governor, stressing that the regular monitoring of MDAs by her office would be intensified to ensure strict compliance.

IYC Chairmen Lauds Parliament for Setting Aside Igbifa's Constitution, Give Reasons

Press Statement
Sunday June 4th, 2023.

IYC ZONAL AND CHAPTER CHAIRMEN ACROSS IJAW NATION LOUDS THE  IYC 5TH MOBILE PARLIAMENT FOR PUTTING THE INTEREST OF IJAW NATION FIRST BY CONCURRING WITH THE SUBMISSIONS OF THE FORUM IN THROWING ASIDE THE PETER IGBIFA'S PURPORTED ATABA DOCUMENT.
URGE IJAW YOUTHS TO BE VIGILANT  AS THE NATIONAL  ELECTION DRAWS NEAR...

The  Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) zonal and chapter chairmen forum led by Comr. Clever Inodu wishes to appreciate and commend the resolution of the 5th mobile Parliament led by Comr. Bob Collins  Igetei in their just concluded parliamentary sitting which rejected and set's aside the purported, self imposed Ataba document by Mr President of IYC Deac. Peter Igbifa was parading as councils constitution.

And also using this medium to thank the six (6) eleco members for standing out for the best interest of Ijaw Nation  to defend and protect the integrity of our dear council by suspending  Mr. Urang Solomon- ex-chairman of the National Electoral Committee (NECO), while, congratulating the new chairman comr. Gilpin O. Gilpin and others hoping that they will selflessly work toward ensuring a peaceful, free, fair and credible elections that will enthrone a reliable leadership Ijaw nation will be proud off.
(1) While commending  the leadership of the 5th Mobile Parliament and it's entire parliamentarians, we want to reassure you of our continuous support on the decision of the 5th Mobile Parliament of the Ijaw Youth Council, which ordered the National Electoral Committee (NECO) to maintain status quo of the Oporoza electoral format  in the conduct of the forthcoming elections of Council.

2. We also condemn Mr President Deac. Peter Igbifa's request in writing to the parliament to  ratify the purported Ataba document that's not known to council. Stressing that , you can not build something on nothing which is the true scenario despite your positive intentions toward your actions and inactions.

3. We also call on the electoral umpire to maintain the template of the Oporoza Unity Elective Convention of 2020 Electoral guidelines for the 2023, General election of the Ijaw Youth Council IYC worldwide.

4.  The Chairmenship Forum of zones and Chapters,  also observed that,  the suspended Ex- chairman of NECO Mr. Urang Solomon's actions  after his inauguration portrays connivance with Mr President to plunge council into another round of crisis, demonstrates a set back to the transition process after x-raying his activities hence, supports his removal and caution others to toe the line of peace and sole interest of Ijaw nation.

5. It is also pertinent to state that, Mr President does not have any power to withdraw any member of the Eleco, as such powers lies solely on the zones and chapters they emanated from. Hence, we advise Mr President to allow peace to reign in council by allowing the Eleco to do thier job independently without interference and plots to scuffle the smooth transition process Ijaw nation looks forward to.

(6) While, Charging the new leadership of Comrade Gilpin Okesiyesinma to ensure they work hand in hand with the zonal chairmen, parliament and leaders of Ijaw nation in ensuring a smooth itch free, credible and transparent election. As leaders of Council,  we will not give room or allow any distraction and plots by some mischief makers to truncate  the transition process for selfish reasons  when we are making frantic efforts to re-position and  bring back the glory of the Council.

7. Therefore, while reassuring the NECO, and entire Ijaw Nation of our enthusiasm and readiness in ensuring a smooth transition, we are washing keenly as we shall not relent to descend on anyone with negative plans to distrupt the existing peace Ijaw people has sacrificed so much to sustain.

We are solidly behind the new  National Electoral Committee NECO Acting Chairman Comrade Gilpin .O. Gilpin led eleco in ensuring they do their job independently to the best of their abilities.

Furthermore, it is very important that we draw the attention of the leadership of present ELECO to acknowledge the fundamental facts that Ijaw people  have sacrificed so much in lifting council from the crisis days to where it is today, hence, nobody should play the role of an accomplice in trying to plunge council into another round of crisis.

While calling on council members, leaders and stakeholders to give the necessary support the NECO needs in ensuring Ijaw Nation gets it right.

Yours in the struggle.

Desist from blackmail against Ndiomu or face the law, group warns sponsors of falsehood

Desist from blackmail against Ndiomu or face the law, group warns sponsors of falsehood

Niger Delta Integrity Group, NDIG has linked media attacks on the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Major General Barry Ndiomu (rtd), to supporters of political opposition.

NDIG Convener, Dr. Boma Horsfall, in a statement, accused those who worked against President Bola Tinubu at the February 25 presidential polls of being behind the recent blackmail of Ndiomu, insisting that their actions were not altruistic but “grossly a show of their anger at the emergence of Tinubu as the President of Nigeria.”

Horsfall said that the reasons adduced by the faceless group against the person of Ndiomu and his leadership were baseless, frivolous and a concoction of fairy tales and primitive.

The statement read: “They should therefore shut their mouths and bury their heads in shame, as it is now crystal clear that the reason why they want Ndiomu out is because he has refused to do their criminal bidding.
“It is sad that the region has become a warehouse of falsehood and self-denial. Those affected by BVN issues are encouraged to look for lawful means to clear their names, as the NDIG will not hesitate to publish the names of these contractors and sponsors soon if they don’t desist from spreading falsehood.

“The NDIG commends General Ndiomu on the recently launched Cooperative Scheme, and considers it one of the best ways to create windows of opportunities for youths in the region.”

The statement added that Ndiomu who is fondly regarded as the ‘People’s General’ is “widely loved and accepted across the region.”

President Joe Biden stumbled to the floor on Thursday, while handing out diplomas at a graduation ceremony for the US Air Force Academy in Colorado.

Biden, who is the nation’s oldest serving president at 80, was seen being helped up by Air Force officials and walking back to his seat unassisted.
The president had been standing for about an hour and half to shake hands with each of the 921 graduating cadets.

The White House communications director said “he’s fine”.

“There was a sandbag on stage while he was shaking hands,” Ben LaBolt wrote on Twitter.

A White House press pool report also earlier said President Joe Biden had tripped on a black sandbag while moving on stage.
US President Joe Biden is helped up after falling during the graduation ceremony at the United States Air Force Academy, just north of Colorado Springs in El Paso County, Colorado, on June 1, 2023.

Footage of the incident shows Mr Biden appearing to point at the sandbag as he gets back on his feet.

He was seen jogging back to his motorcade, apparently uninjured, when the ceremony ended shortly after the accident.

Critics have said he is too old to run for a second term as president.

Recent polls have suggested a majority of US voters are concerned about his advanced age. He would be 82 at the start of a second term if he wins.

This fall, in addition to previous stumbles off his bicycle and on the way up the Air Force One stairs, may add to concerns.
