Delta Taskforce Seals Jerrotec Steels Ent. in Warri over Canal blockage


..... Serves one week abatement notice to illegal shop owners to vacate premises


Delta State Taskforce on Environment has sealed up JERROTEC STEELS NIG. ENT, a welding and fabrication company located along NNPC Complex road, Ekpan  over blockage of natural water channel with caravan as office,  equipments, iron goods among other items, thereby obstructing free flow of rain waters through the canal to big rivers in order to control flooding in the city of Uvwie and its environ.


The operation was carried out by the patrol team of the taskforce on Friday 27th August, 2021, as a result of deliberate refusal of the company owner to relocate his office and equipments from the canal premises, having served him abatement notice since last year 2020.


Gov. Okowa led Delta State Government through the office of the State Taskforce on Environment ably headed by Hon. Sylvester Oromoni, is doing his best to curb the perennial flood challenges facing the state, stressing that removing structures built on top natural waterways is one of the measures to stop the menace.


It therefore, charged residents whose structures are built on top natural water channels to relocate before team of the state taskforce embark on demolition.

 

It would be recalled that, the Federal Meteorological Center has warned that there shall be heavy down pour (rainfall) in Delta State, and this will cause flooding. It further advised residents in a water prone areas to relocate to upland for safety of lives and properties.


Meanwhile, the state taskforce also served one week abatement Notice to illegal shop owners trading under high tension, on top public drainage as well as pedestrians walkway along Refinery road, by Edo Guest House Ekpan, to vacate the premises before the law enforcement agency come back for forceful demolition next week.
