Taskforce marks illegal shops under high tension for demolition in warri 


Team of the Delta State Taskforce on Environment, led by Hon. Sylvester Oromoni, has marked illegal structures, containerise shops popularly known as Caravan built under 33KVA electric pole, high tension wire for demolition in warri.

The exercise was carried out on Tuesday October 12, during the state taskforce on their usual routine patrol within the city of warri and its environ.

The illegal structures marked for demolition where sighted along Airport road, close to AJ Restaurant, Willy street opp Plaza among others. Owners of the shops where equally served abatement notice to remove their structures within one week time or face demolition.

While educating them on the reason why they should leave, Chairman of the taskforce, Hon. Sylvester Oromoni, stressed that it not safe to trade under high tension because of the danger of electric shock.

He noted that as a government, the primary responsibility is to protect the lives and properties of its citizens. What " We are doing is to protect your lives and properties. This is not witch hunting neither oppression. If your stores are built behind electric high tension wire (pole), you are on safer ground. But when built direct under high tension is not allowed. Obey simple government order and be safe, Oromoni stated".

However, it will interest the general public to note that Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa led Delta State government is doing his best to provide enabling environment as well as protect the lives and properties of all Deltans. What the government need is your maximum cooperation to keep the environment clean and habitable for all residents across the State.
