Francis Tayor

Warri _____ The newly appointed Director General (DG) on Special Duties to the Delta State Government, High Chief. Frank Omare has resumed work with on the spot inspection of flashpoints, flood prone areas within Warri and Uvwie local government areas of the state.

Omare with his team alongside the press turn round the city of Warri and its environ on Saturday to various locations of the natural water channels in order to identify the root causes of incessant perennial flooding that affects many homes as result of any slight rain drop.
During the on the spot inspection tour, Chief Omare discovered that most residential buildings and business premises are built on major natural waterways, thereby impeding free flow of water to the bigger river whenever it rains.

As result of that, the waters fight back and flooding our homes and environment, making life unbearable for residents across the state.

While addressing traders at Ekpan roundabout wood market, Chief Omare urged the market women who trade on structures built on natural water channels to begin evacuation of their properties within the shortest possible time or risk forceful demolition by the state government with swamp buggy.
He explained to Warri residents that Delta State Government under His. Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori led administration is coming up with master plan to salvage Deltans from perennial flood disaster.

To achieve the vision, all hands must be on deck and the people must support the government by doing the right thing in removing their buildings obstructing the free flow of waters at the newly constructed drainage systems across the state.

Meanwhile, Omare give a saving grace to landlords and shop owners who built on major natural waterways to evacuate their valuables from now to nextweek, adding that swamp buggy has no friend and it will come like a thief to commence operation, he stated.

However, areas visited include Ogboroke, Edjeba link road canals, Uti, Alegbo major natural water channels, Heaven Estate canal Ogboroke, Ekpan Wood market among others.
