Izoukumor Plays Host to ljaw Publishers, Promises to Synergise

Warri_____The Ijaw Publishers Forum, IPF today paid a courtesy visit to High Chief Favour Izoukumor, the Executive Director of Social Services, in his office in the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC).

The visit was also to officially congratulate Izoukumor on his appointment and successful inauguration as the Executive Director of Social Services, DESOPADEC.

Leading the delegation of the IPF, Comr. Austin Ozobo who is the Acting Chairman, CEO & Publisher of Congress Newspapers Worldwide read and presented the group’s congratulatory letter to the Executive Director.
Mentioning, the IPF Acting Chairman presented a copy of the group’s desire to work hand-in-hand with the directorate in areas they can fit in to make it more functional; to further build the confidence of the common Deltans in the commission.

A list of demands by the body to inclusively work for the good of Deltans especially standing in for the Ijaws in equal distribution of social services to the primary areas of concern in the state.
Another major concern of the visit is the request of the commission especially the Social Services Directorate to patronize and promote media houses playing host to the commission, the ethnic groups the commission is meant to cover instead of engaging the services of outsiders for jobs the indigenous publishers can do perfectly.

In a welcoming response, the Executive Director of Social Services, Chief Favour Izoukumor appreciated the IPF for the congratulatory visit and the initiative to push for a better Ijaw Nation through the pen, putting the Ijaw Ethnicity in the global space.
Izoukumor advised the body to remain apolitical; stay focused and not diving into political affairs that could make the pen-minded association untrustworthy and unreliable.

However, the ED promised that the commission will always do what it has been saddled with, taking to heart also the demands of the IPF to support the different media houses to grow to compete with top-ranking print and visual media houses across the nation.

Bringing the twin congratulatory and familiarization visit to an end, Mitchell Tamsokunbiri, the CEO of Kpakam TV gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the IPF, commending the ED-Social Services for the warmth welcome of the group, acknowledging the words of advice and promise to meet the demands presented to the directorate especially the ones they can do to help the indigenous media outfits grow to compete in the media space.
