Senate Passes Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege Sponsored Bill Seeking For The Establishment Of Federal Polytechnic Orogun, Delta Into Law

Abuja____ The Senate on
Wednesday 18th December, 2019 passed the bill establishing Federal Polytechnic, Orogun, Delta State into law pending the assent by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Bill when signed by President Buhari, it would bring to existence the first conventional federal polytechnic to be established in Delta State.

The bill sponsored by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, is titled “Federal Polytechnic, Orogun, Delta State (Establishment Etc.) Bill.”
The bill spent 10 weeks on the floor of the Senate, having been read for the first time on October 8, 2019.
Third Reading of the bill followed the consideration and adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND.

Presenting the report, Chairman of the panel, Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita said when established, the institution will not only satisfy the desires of admission seekers in the area but also reduce youth restiveness in the Niger Delta region.
In line with Section 58(3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the bill will now be transmitted to the House of Representatives for concurrence and thereafter to the President for assent.
