Amnesty: Don't Appoint Desperate Politicians, Glorified Militant Leaders To Head Amnesty Office, Ex-Niger Delta Agitators Tells President Buhari

....... "We Need Visionary Neutral Person To Head The Office"

Francis Tayor

Warri____ Former Niger Delta agitators under the aegis of Ex- Niger Delta Freedom Fighters (ENDFF), led by self styled General Agbobulagha Ebube has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to repositioned the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) by appointing an independent visionary leader from the creeks of Niger Delta to head the office.

Speaking with news men in Warri yesterday, Gen. Agbobulagha expressed disgust that social media is proliferated with campaign of those desperate for the office, adding that politicizing the programme is inimical to the purpose of the Amnesty programme.

Agbobulagha also noted that the agitations to develop the Niger Delta region by formerly armed agitators necessitated the Amnesty programme. It should be recalled that civil society group played  major role by creating awareness and educative programmes which created the idea that led to the programme.

Agbobulaga express regrets that Professor Charles Dokubo was suspended following series of petitions. However, it should not serve as an opportunity to some glorified militants and political godfathers to use political means to lobby for the sensitive position
no matter how close they are to the corridor of power at the presidency.

Political lobbying from those connected to militant camps, groups or leaders in the Niger Delta is just a ploy to tune the presidency toward appointing their stooges and earn them the platform to energize militancy.

The presidency must not create room for superiority contest, insecurity that will plunge the programme into monumental failure.

The presidency must disregard calls from clandestine network of his political appointees with unholy mission.

A civil society leader from the creeks of Niger Delta, someone unabashedly devoted to peace advocacy using prerequisite sagacity to galvanize the amnesty programme on the pedestrian of success is what we need to handle the Amnesty office, Gen. Agbobulagha stated.
