Delta Taskforce Shut Down Filthy Bakery in Warri Metropolis

Warri____The State Taskforce has shut down the operations of a bakery in Effurun for processing snacks and other confectioneries under unhygienic conditions.

The bakery was closed on Friday, September 18 after officials of the State Taskforce visited the premises to ascertain the state of cleanliness of the place.

Located at Number 16, 2nd Mosheshe Street in Effurun, the Taskforce frowned at the filthy and unhealthy environment where food to be consumed by members of the public is being produced.

Taskforce Chairman Honorable Sylvester Oromoni in a statement,  said the bakery cannot be allowed to continue functioning under the conditions it was seen.

He lamented that the unsuspecting public is made to consume unwholesome snacks from the bakery observing that it was wicked of the operators of the bakery to take the people for granted by producing under unwholesome situation that is detrimental to the well being of citizens.

' If you visit the place, you will be shocked at what you will see. The floor is broken and filthy, the work surfaces are dirty, there is flour every where, the workers live in the same apartment where the snack is produced and they have no protective gears ', he said.

Continuing, Oromoni insisted that the bakery has to be closed down to allow the  owner and workers put adequate measures to abate the observed nuisances.

' We have closed the bakery for now ', he confirmed, ' they cannot open for business any more until the right measures are put in place for their consumers.

It is evil to expose people to this kind of hazard and we shall not accept it ', Oromoni insisted.

He explained that the closure of the bakery would serve as a deterrent to other bakeries operating in the State and maintained that the Taskforce will also pay a similar visit to bakeries to ascertain their level of operational cleanliness.

' We have a mandate to ensure people consume food produced under the best hygienic conditions ', he said
