Chief Mulade Calls On Nigerian Leaders To Improve On Education


.......As NUT commends him for promoting education in Niger Delta


......Urges Delta South leaders to emulate him


A renowned Niger Delta  leader cum global environmental/human rights activist, Comrade (Chief) Sheriff Mulade has called on Nigerian leaders to give more attention and improve on Nigeria education sector, stressing that education is the bedrock of every successful nation all over the world.


He gave the charge on Wednesday at Hussey College warri, during the 5th edition of Comrade Sheriff Mulade inter-local government quiz and essay competitions for riverine/rural secondary schools in warri North, warri South and warri South-west LGAs of Delta State, noted that the competition is an initiative of his NGO CEPEJ that is targeted to promote educational awareness among the riverine/rural communities, and also to assist the less privileged but highly intelligent students to pursue their education and career in life through scholarship support.


The CEO/National Coordinator of Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, Comrade Sheriff Mulade appealed to South South Governors, especially Gov. Okowa of Delta state, multinational oil companies, as well as well meaning individuals to support and give more attention to education, stressing that education is the bedrock of a nation development. He said this programme was as result of his education challenge in the early days of his life, where he found it very difficult to transport himself to the closest secondary school in the riverine communities to acquire education.


He noted that uptill now, the government has not been able to provide the needed education in the riverine communities.


According to him,”that’s why we continue to talk and appeal to the federal and state governments to pay more attention to the riverine areas.


In his reaction, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT Warri South LGA Delta State, led by Comrade Ikuejawa Ishmeal has commended Mulade for promoting education through this programme, charging Delta South leaders to emulate Chief Sheriff Mulade as the only man in the entire senatorial district who supports education.


The competition was sponsored by the Centre for Peace & Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, in order to bring education more closer to the riverine communities.


However, in this years edition, Atuwatse II College emerged winner and it goes home with one hundred thousand naira (#100, 000 00) cash alongside other consolation prizes.
