Taskforce seal up bars, restaurants over indiscriminate waste dumping in delta

Delta state Taskforce on Environment has on Wednesday sealed up beer parlors, restaurants and boutique shops in Niger Cat area of Ekpan in Uvwie LGA near Warri, Delta State over indiscriminate dumpage of waste in the environment.

Team of the state taskforce apprehended a woman depositing waste from her shop to an illegal dumpsite close to shell oil pipeline in the area, thereby discovered that over ten shops within the premises refused to engage the service of PSP.

When asked, the shop owners said they usually pay four hundred naira (400) every month to their landlord in order to dispose the waste through cart pushers.

The state taskforce sealed up their shops and ordered them to  register with government approved PSP service providers to dispose off the waste immediately. They where equally served a fine to pay for littering the environment.
