Ughelli_____ A renowned Niger Delta Civil Rights Activist cum Spokesman of ljaw Peoples Development Initiative (IPDI), Mayor Timi Ogobiri has refuted a call by one Austin Ozobo, President ljaw Peoples Development lnitiative, IPDI urging federal government to withdraw pipeline surveillance contract job from Capt. Hosa Okunbor over alleged marginalization of host communities.

Mayor Ogobiri made the statement on Monday at Ughelli, Delta State through a Press Statement noted that there was never a day he wrote a Press Statement in the name of IPDI calling on federal government to terminate pipeline contract job from Capt. Okunbor, and that his name was impersonated by Austin Ozobo in the said publication. He therefore, called on the general public to disregard such call by mentally overzealous Austin Ozobo, who is trying to dent and defamed his personality before the public.

According to the Press Statement, read: " My Attention Has Been Drawn To a Publication By One Ozobo Austin, President of Ijaw People Development Initiative, IPDI.

I am writing to refute a malicious, unfounded, defamation publication by Austin Ozobo who impersonated me with my office as Spokesperson of IPDI.

My names are Cmrd Timi Ogobiri, I am the Spokesman of IPDI whom have served diligently and still serving same.

I am unequivocally  refuting the said Publication by Ozobo Austin who is aimed at ruining my hard earn reputation and integrity.

Peace, Unity is sacrosanct I have lend my voice to preach over the years for the development of Ijaw  Nation cum Niger Delta region.

Ozobo have recently published a malicious articles on various online news platforms and print media against my Image and person as a Civil right Activist.

I am not at war with my Niger Delta, Ijaw leaders as I am in tandem with my progressive Ijaw leaders.

I am disappointed, disturb on the way and manner Ozobo Austin impersonated me calling FG to withdraw Surveillance Contract from Capt Okunbor Hosea.

I did not at any time author, sign any publication to withdraw OMS Job from Capt. Hosa who is also our Niger Delta leader from Edo State.

The said Publication is an attempt to discredit, assassinate my untainted character as a Stakeholder.

I have often warned Comr Ozobo Austin to halt meddelling into some sensitive issues of this magnitude as this.

Being an activist is not a yardstick to create enemity with our leaders because you are endowed with intellectual propensity.

However, I wish to cease this medium to calm fray nerves over the malicious publication  emanated from overzealous Ozobo Austin.

Since Hosa was Contracted to Manage OMS Job, the area have been very peaceful working with other critical stakeholders and there has been no reason for anyone with no sinister motive to call on Federal Government, NNPC and heads of security apparatus to terminate oil Surveillance Job.

Ozobo intention is aimed at causing disaffection and rancour between me and leaders from the said Area. More so I am my Ijaw brother's Keeper, a Protector, a champion of the Ijaw Course over the years and not a Alien as painted on the said Publication by Ozobo.

In same vein, he Ozobo have also impersonated me Sometime ago without my knowledge to petition Rt. Hon. Nicholas Mutu, brother over a purported abandonment of Akugbene Community NDDC shore protection job which am not abreast of. How could a learned Civil rights Activist author a petition, sign it in another person's name and office without his knowledge or drawing his attention to it ? is what am yet to comprehend. If not for my ally from Bomadi L.G.A, l could not have been informed that l  was impersonated by Austin Ozobo.

The general public should please disregard such call by mentally overzealous Cmr Austin Ozobo, President of IPDI, the statement adds."

Signed:

Mayor Timi Ogobiri
