Asaba_____ Following the inauguration of the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB  Mr Paul A.Kurugbe who is a member of the board  has cautioned education secretaries; especially those from Delta South Senatorial District of the state to shun all forms of illegal and unauthorized fees collection from pupils and to ensure strict compliance of academic curriculum and punctuality of staff.

Mr Kurugbe made the call yesterday 29th October, 2019 during an inaugural meeting with the education secretaries from the senatorial district at his office in Asaba, briefly after the first meeting of the board with education secretaries across the state led by the Chairman, Hon Sunny Ogwu highlighting vices the board will not treat with kid gloves.

According to Kurugbe said; " the board has identified vices which will not be treated with kid gloves, stressing that these vices have become the bane of the state's primary education sector and that His Excellency, Dr (Sen.) Ifeanyi Okowa's led administration is poised on eradicating these ills". He went on to insert that, " they include illegal or unauthorized collection of fees, staff absenteeism, lack of commitment and dedication to service, insubordination etc"

He further stated that the commitment and dedication to service is a  panacea to a brighter future for the pupils as the state government and other agencies are investing so much on the future of the Delta Child. " I need you to be very committed, dedicated and take your work seriously".

To this end, Mr Kurugbe, while addressing the education secretaries, stated that  "the Governor has charged  the board to take supervision very seriously and to that effect the board shall pay unscheduled visits to schools across the state and workers found wanting shall be dealt with accordingly, the statement adds".
