Ayakoromo Bridge: Release Fund Now For The Bridge To Avoid Shutdown Of Govt House Asaba, Ijaw Rights Group, Ayakoromo Youths Tells Gov. Okowa

Warri____ As regards the appeal of His Excellency, Senator. Ifeanyi Okowa through his information commissioner, Mr. Charlse Aniagwu, alleging that funds had been appropriated for the completion of the abandoned Ayakoromo bridge, the group and the aggrieved community youths had jettison the proposed mass action, arising from an enlarged meeting held in Warri comprising the leadership of Ijaw Rights Group, the Ijaw People's Development Initiative, IPDI, and Ayakoromo Community Youths.

Speaking to newsmen, Comrade Ozobo Austin national president of IPDI and Mayor Timi Ogobiri Spokesperson had said they had decided to jettison the planned mass action which was to be held at the Delta State government house over the abandoned bridge project slated on 30th January, 2020, following the appeal by His Execellency Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, indicating commitment for the speedy completion of the bridge project.

The community and Civil Society group added "it is our warning that Dr Ifeanyi Okowa should not play politics with Ayakoromo community bridge project as regards its importance and that fund alledged to have been appropriated for the project be released now or atmost the first quarter of the budgetary year to avert shutdown Of Government House, Asaba.

"It worthy of note that Ayakoromo bridge is a choice project. A project with much economy benefits.  It is the only capital project in the whole of Burutu LGA. No well meaning Government will abandoned such a project, considering its economy importance. Dr Ifeanyi Okowa should release fund now for the bridge to avoid shutdown of Government house, Asaba"

According to the Aggrieved Stakeholders"The protest has not been call off, but this is a temporal ceasefire to enable the Government release fund now or atmost the first quarter of the budgetary year for the project and that the protest will continue for any failure of the Government to release fund before March ending"
