Ijaw Group Appeals To Tompolo To Intervene On Ayakoromo Bridge Project, Commends Him For Resolving IYC Factional Crisis

Francis Tayor

Warri____ An ljaw group under the aegis of Concerned Citizens For lzon-ebe Development (CCFID), has appealed to the foremost ljaw born Niger Delta freedom fighter, High Chief. Government Oweizide Emkpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo to intervene on the slow pace of work at Ayakoromo bridge project, in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State over the past five years.

The group also commended the kind gesture of the ljaw leader who has drastically brought peace and unity to ljaw Youth Council, IYC that was under the influence of divide and rule system over the past three years due to some contending issues bothering the council.

Speaking to the press on behalf of the group at Ayakoromo during the weekend, the President of the group, Comrade Oyinbi Onduku noted that Ayakoromo bridge is lacking government attention and commitment due to ineffective representation of our elected political office holders.

He stressed that negligence to duty by our elected honorable members at various legislative chambers, as well as lack of political will on the side of government are among the barriers facing the epileptic state of work at the project.

" It will interest you to note that, Ayakoromo bridge project was awarded since 2014 by the immediate past governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan with the vision to open up riverine communities in terms of road network and urbanization. But unfortunately, the project is not progressing as expected due to poor representation.

It is my humble appeal to our selfless ljaw leader, High Chief. Government Ekpemupolo to please use your influence and political connections to help draw the attention of the Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Senator. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa in order to show more commitment towards speedy completion of the bridge within the shortest possible time, Comr. Onduku stated."

However, the Ayakoromo bridge when completed, will increase the economy of the state, ease transportation of goods and services, as well as fast track road network to Burutu main town, the oil kingdom Ogulagha, Odimodi,  Forcados terminal among other riverine communities in the state.
